Rainbow 6 Patriots Confirmed

Ubisoft has confirmed a new Rainbow 6 is in development: Rainbow 6 Patriots. The game promises a "dynamic single-player storyline" and "innovative co-op and multiplayer experiences". Ubisoft Montreal will be leading the project, supported by Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm, and it'll launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013.

The game's story sees Team Rainbow taking on a terrorist group dubbed the 'True Patriots', a "highly-trained, well-organized revolutionary group that claim the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests." The True Patriots will stop at nothing to see its cause through to the bitter end and, predictably, only Team Rainbow can stop them. Additionally, provisional box-art for the game depicts the Statue of Liberty so its likely at least part of the game will take place in New York.

According to Ubisoft the game will present players with tough ethical decisions and split-second decisions to make, although there's no information as to how this will materialise in the game.

Rainbow 6 Patriots will also offer a fleshed-out multiplayer mode that rewards players for working as a team, with communication and smart tactical execution between team-mates essential if you're going to be king of the hill.

"Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6", said David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft. "In Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience."

This trailer is NSFW. It is intense, and definitely pushes the limits of violence and morality in games. You think that the MW2 Airport level was bad? If there is more of that trailer in the actual game, MW2 Airport has NOTHING on R6:Patriots.
