My Xbox sh1t the bed Empty My Xbox sh1t the bed

Post by S7 Zero Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:26 pm

So my box had been having issues reading any sort of disk, so last night I took a can of compressed air, and used it to clean my xbox thoroughly. Now it doesn't freakin work at all. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get the piece of sh1t running without needing to replace the entire DVD drive? Or is that my only option?
Anyways, it should be a while before I have a working xbox again, so I'm going to go silent for a while. Hopefully I can get something working before SKYRIM!!! & Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary edition comes out.

If the disc is spinning but not registering, you just have to beat on it! Seriously, look for videos on the disk read, or unsupported disc error. Sometimes the Xbox doesn't reset the laser correctly to read the "DMR" code, and by knocking/tapping on it you can vibrate it enough that it will catch the strip and play. Once you get it to read, I recommend you just leave the thing on.

I have indeed tried hitting it many times, but I'll give it one more good whack, thanks miller.

Replacing the drive is the only long term solution. I used to open and close the drive over and over until a disc would play, seemed random. Treat yourself to a new elite, you won't regret it.

I was thinking that only worked on 50's era jukeboxes but I stand corrected.
