S7 Forza Challenge League

Ok, this is an interesting idea I had while trying to think of something fun to do with tournaments. I apologize for this wall of text but it's needed to properly explain.
This all stems from a few things: CoD4 1v1's after practice, and my love of Chess and SC2. Combine those with Forza and you get the FCL - Forza Challenge League.

Here is how this will work: (basic)
Every racer Will be rated.
Default Rating is 1200
Challenges are between 2 people ONLY.
Beating someone rated higher gives more points. Beating someone lower gives less.
Challenges can consist of other racers, but only the two challenging each other have their rating change. (examples below)
There will be seasons
It will use something similar to the Chess ELO system to decide rating changes.

How it will work: (advanced)
Ok it sounds pretty simple. I want to show interseptor I can smoke him in drifting races. So we race each other and I get more drift points than him. = Win.
Interseptor is annoyed at me getting 3x his score and says that If he teamed with Sticky he could beat me and anyone else easy. I recruit Wiggles to my team and sticky wrecks us both out of a regular A-Class race so Interseptor gets a WIN, I get a LOSS, wiggles and sticky don't change.

Thus this can easily be implemented to the current tournaments. I don't beat Interseptor or Glock too often in those, but I could challenge one of them if I want a chance at some big gains. So aside from the tournament results, our rankings in the FCL change from race to race.

Any Questions? I just thought this would be a fun way to encourage people to be on and race more AND to consider starting up some more alternate race nights. Let me know if anyone is interested in the idea and I'll make a real post and we can get the rankings under way.

Sounds like fun... now what would the car restrictions be? Stock? Classes? what?

The restrictions are whatever you want them to be, or at least that's what i'm getting from it.

No restrictions. It's just a way to rate everyone no matter what type of race they want to do. I'm hoping it will encourage more races and people to start various other tournaments.

Something like weighting races from tournaments so they're worth more points is possible too.

I'm a little confused.
Why would Sticky not move up since his team won and Wiggles move down since his team lost?

To keep things simple. The challenge itself is just between the 2 people. If we were to do team things where everyones rating would be effected then the math behind calculating rating changes gets WAY more difficult. I've made a website that could predicut true skill by using bungies equation before but it takes a while and is a pain to get correct.

Basically: It's easy to do rating changes for 1v1. So if wiggles and sticky also wanted the race to matter they could challenge each other.
I suppose 1 person could also challenge multiple people in 1 race, but it would have to be treated as multiple 1v1's.

The idea is challenge a person to have your rating change. You can do any type of car, class, track, race setting, etc. Whoever wins gets the win. So if it's a team race the person on the winning team gets a win.

So have you made a true skill rating for all of us yet? Or is that something that would happen over time? And when can we start challenging?

Everyone starts at 1200. If people like the idea I'll make a thread we can sticky that I'll make cool graphics for and put in all our active forza people. After that threads made challenges can start happening.

So do it man! Let's get it going!

I like the idea, especially since the times will be flexible... not trying to get 8 people on at the same time.

Not that I'm gonna play, but is there a start date and an end date? Is there min max on number races per season or per week? Are ya gonna make a xbl global message to s7

Nope, no limit on how many races you can do. The way ELO ratings work the more you play, the less your rating is changed with wins or losses. Start date is NOW, end date: none as of now. It's broken in to seasons so in all reality this season will probably go until forza 4 (or close to it).

The Official thread is up and stickied. I'll be sending out a global message once I'm on XBL next. Might be a little while as this is my birthday weekend but there will be one.

Also on a side note, if this goes well for forza it will be super easy to implement in other clan games. My only concern is we're more concerned about having fun than being super competitive so I still haven't decided on the best way to display the actual rank/position. My current best ideas are

• Rating Number Displayed (ex. AtrumX - 1205)
  
• Division and Rankings (ex. Diamond: AtrumX 3rd)
  
• Leaderboard (from 1st to last ex. AtrumX - 5th)
  

If anyone has other ideas I'm definitely open to them. Just want it to be a cool addition that makes our clan stand out.

This sounds like a great idea, however, for someone that's way below a novice in this game I probably won't be taking up any challenges anytime soon. Hope everyone has a great time with this and maybe I'll be able to get in enough wheel time so that I'll actually be able to take up some challenges.
