BCS National Champion Game
Well, tonight's the night! Been waiting for what seems like forever for today to finally arrive. In case y'all missed it, I am a huge Auburn fan and obviously pulling for the Tigers to win but I wanted to know what all you sports guys thought. Place your bets. Who's gonna take home the National title?

I know it's your alma mater and all bro, (or the Latin version almae matres meaning "nourishing mother") but I got to say QUACK, QUACK!
Cam may pull it off, but I'd like to see the Oregon Ducks go home with it. Sometimes there is a player that needs humility...sorry to say Cam is that player.

No hard feelings. Everybody has to pick a side but I think your motive is a little off. Humility? Cam? Really? This guy was a back up to Tim Tebow and never got a chance to show his stuff except on about 5 plays while at Florida. So then he heads off to spend a year at a community college to get his sh1t together. After a successful run at CC (national championship), he heads to Auburn where he wasn't guaranteed the QB position until after spring training. From there he worked his team up from a nation ranking of 23rd all the way to #1 and any time he is asked, he is the first to say that the coaches, supporting staff and teammates are the reason they won. Never seems to have a big head.
Perhaps you just want to see him fail?

Not to get "preachy" but I think he's a scam artist...he, his father and others like him. Again, I know you're coming from a place other than I am with this...meaning you're going to defend your guy. no big deal, but I find what he did disgusting. Why? I think that his father should have been pushing him to get a great education, not see who will pay the most and where will he get playing time. I know it's a dog-eat-dog/money rules everything world but I think we should at least want what's best for our children, not what's best "right now". If he's hurt he's back to what??

Well, I don't want to get into a big debate over the controversy, inconstancy in NCAA ruling or even the morality of it all. It can get a little sticky but I will say this. Cam Newton is one hell of a ball player and no matter what comes out in the future, you can't take that away. He worked his way up from obscurity, living in the shadow of Tim Tebow, to winning the Heisman Trophy and taking the Tigers to the National Championship. He has elevated everyone around him and pushed his team to do extraordinary things. Despite what his father did and what he may or may not have know about it, at the end of the day Cam is an amazing natural athlete and I am in awe of what he can do on the field. I am proud to be an Auburn Tiger and support Cam Newton as an athlete and all he has done for the team. Not just as a good player but how he has elevated the entire team around him.
@ SG - Not sure Farley is dirty per se, just a very intense guy. Once he gets going it's hard to stop. Ever see a train stop on a dime? Nope. Once committed, he is going to hit someone. Most of his tackles are perfectly legit. He really only has 1 or 2 late hits. It's just those that everybody remembers. Plus I am sure the refs are going to be ready with the flags tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if he get flagged for a perfectly legit hit tonight.

I have my Duck sweatshirt, shirt, hat, gloves, scarf, pajama bottoms, and slippers on right now. Plus, like in true Duck fashion, I have at least one more of each piece of clothing I just mentioned so I can mix and match. My whole family went to U of O, so I'm gonna be killed when I transfer elsewhere

I can dig that Interseptor... but the only problem is when a dirty player leaves-- he leaves the trash behind...ask USC and Reggie Bush

Re: BCS National Champion Game
Hadn't heard that dirt before. Hope it isn't true. 50 years since Auburn had the crown - I'd hate to see it stripped later.
Go War Eagles! Beat the fuckinducks. Just watch out for their onside kicks; they don't even have to recover the ball to gain possession.
edit: tied up at the end - great comeback by Oregon - no matter who wins it was fun to watch.

Man, Thomas seemed to be making every wrong read tonight. We definitely could have won that game. Oh well, it was a very entertaining game and at least I can honestly say that the two best teams played tonight, something that doesn't happen every year.

That was a good game. Definitely a defensive battle...both QBs were kept in check...
Re: BCS National Champion Game
Disagree about best two teams - still need a playoff.

Well, obviously I think Auburn is the best team but I absolutely agree that a playoff system is badly needed. I think it's the #1 thing that needs to change in college football.

Re: BCS National Champion Game
As an interesting follow-up I thought I'd share this. After every win the fans and people of Auburn "roll" Tomer's Corner with toilet paper to celebrate. It's a tradition that has gone on for ages and become a major event if your in town after a win.
This is a shot of Tomer's Corner taken the morning after the BCS Championship win.

LOL! I've been there and done this but I have never seen it like this. People must have been out there literally all night long. And I don't want to clean it up either I know they are used to cleaning up after a win, but this is another level.
