Quick thoughts and first impressions. Empty Quick thoughts and first impressions.

Well, I played multiplayer for a little over 2 hours last night, and I had a blast. We all seemed to struggle at different times, as we were trying out weapons and learning the maps, but still did well as a team. We even got one of our new members in on the madness. Funny thing is, no one knows what to say yet as we don’t know the maps. It’s hard to call out enemy positions when you can’t describe it besides “behin joo!”

So far it seems really good. I like the speed and feel of the game and character movement. The “points” to unlock are troublesome, as when I unlock something I want to be stingy about the points. I want to try things out, but not for the cost of the points. It’s like I’m saving up for all the good stuff, but right now I have no idea what is good. That is going to take some getting used to.

The same goes for the perks and killstreaks. I would like to give different ones a go, but hate to spend all the points on them. Then again, I just unlocked the killstreak at level 10, and that’s when I quit. The new non-stacking kills for kill streaks seems to work well, as with the exception of one team we played, there were not a lot of 7 killstreaks hit that I noticed, and it’s more like COD4 when the occasional chopper hits the field instead of constant air support like can happen in MW2. One other thing- I’m not sure how cold blooded works with the air support. It seemed to work sometimes, and not work other times. I wonder if it works as long as you do not fire your weapon to show up on the map, and once you do they target in on you?

It did seem fairly easy to rank up to a point where you can start to purchase good things and customize your play. I was level 10 in two hours, and we spent a considerable (more than I would like) amount of time in lobbies. I don’t think I played but around 10 games total. And that is another thing- the game does feel more personal in customizing your character. When you are purchasing the weapons, attachments, perks, and streaks, you are more invested in your character and play style. To me it’s just a bit more involved and exciting.

One thing I am not sure I agree with is the way they did secondary weapons. It is super early, so no one has a lot of unlocks, but I think one of their ideas is going to be troublesome. They (Treyarch) decided to make it where you can’t use scavenger or warlord/bling with the noob tube to cut don’t on the explosives. But at the same time they take away shotguns and machine pistols from your secondary weapons and leave in the rocket and grenade launchers. When I looked through the secondary weapons, those were the only ones I think are worthy of running. I don’t know why I wouldn’t run the RPG over a 9mm pistol? So I think you are going to see the majority of the players running RPGs and Thumpers IMO.

Then again it is early and didn’t see anyone outside the teens in rank, so I didn’t get to experience a ton of things like maps swarming with RC cars (did see a few, and they were bigger and slower than I imagined), any ballistic knifes or crossbows, and no dog maulings…. actually I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get to hear the barking of the hounds as players cowered in the corners.

Pretty much everything miller said. I only played two hours about as well. I think I may have only seen a total of 5 maps and may have only played 10 matches as well.

Unlike miller I have seen the hounds. They're not as vicious as they were in WAW. The new chopper gunner sequence is more exciting as well it actually puts you in the belly of the chopper and has you shoot from the side of the chopper. I got it out of a care package and I'm not sure what killstreak it is but it is r@pe. As wiggles, KP and chattem can vouch for that I believe I got 20 some odd kills just in the gunner seat.

I also forgot to add Sticky already hates when I'm on the other team. It seems like me and Kenny are gonna irritate Sticky as well in this game, just like the ones before this, if we ever have to face each other.

I agree with everything that is said above. I just have a question about the killstreaks, what is the difference between the 7 and the 11 attack hellicopter/chopper gunner?

Attack helicopter you just release into an area of the map while chopper gunner your actually put in the gunner seat and fire the gun yourself.

Right. What about the chopper gunner and gunship? I kind of looked them up, they don't seem too different, just ones on the side.

I'd take the revolver over the RPG miller, it's a lot more useful when you run out of ammo...plus you can stick an Acog on it....

P.S.

Warlord + M14 + Acog + Grip = Pwnage

I played last night for a couple hours and I must say....I Like it. I spent too much money on attachments that don't work well for me but I'll make some more and buy some more crap I can't use properly...LOL

Another thing about not having machine pistols is I noticed a few players last night with the modded controllers spraying thier 9mm. I am going to try and go back and make a video of it from the file share (however that works).

Well I only got to play five matchs yesterday , which was weak on my part, so far the maps are a win, there big and got a lot of cover, the gun range level is sweet with the moving targets physching me out, I still need to get leveled up and figure our the maps. The dogs are still crazy bad ass they don't bark as much and I didn't get the screen to brake their neck. It nice that there is not a ton of air support all the time. And I need to slow down until I figure the maps out, run and gun wasn't workn too good for me, I like that the shot guns are not as powerful as they were in mw2. I can't wait to play more, only complaint I have is that the sound of the guns is kinda weak and unreal sounding to me

Well, I played a little bit of the MP and SP last night and I must say that I enjoyed myself. Aside from not being able to easly get into a game I had a great time. It's still a little early but so far I really like the way you customize things. It's great to just buy Ghost as a perk rather than wait till I hit level 25. In just the few hours I played last night I was able to build a full stealth class complete with silenced weapon, Ghost, Ninja and Warlord. That is something I could have never done in previous games. It would have taken me days or even weeks to level up enough to get all those things.

I also really like the contracts and challenges. Of course, we have had challenges for several games now but they work very well with the contracts. It's fun to go in and buy a couple contacts and try completing them. It is also a very good way to make some extra money.

I haven't unlocked the other custom things like camo and appearance but I am really looking forward to it. I love how personal the game feels. I love the idea that my character is unique. I pick my loadout, gun, attachments, camo, logo etc... It's almost like COD, Halo and RV6 had a baby.... An AWESOME baby! It plays like COD, has a custom loadout from R6V and file share system from Halo. It's epic win!

Single player was also quite good. I am still too early to know exactly what's going on in the story but so far I am really impressed and very interested to see where it goes.

The bottom line is that this game feels very slick and well designed from the ground up. Everything from the menu system (and Easter egg included is also EPIC WIN) to the game play feels really polished. I really think Treyarch did a great job on this game from what I have seen so far. I am really looking forward to diving back in and discovering more.

I couldn't have possibly said it better 'Septor. Every single word you stated above I agree with. Everything you just noted, I noted as well while playing...even the massive wait time to join a lobby. That is the only negative. Because I LOVE the R6V and Halo franchises (and have purchased every COD) you're right, this just feels comfortable--like a great combination of all of them and personally I'm very impressed!

Well done game indeed!

I am playing the story, as usual, before starting in on the multiplayer. I like the story, but unless you pay really close attention to it, you will lose the plot. I'm playing it through on Veteran, and I just might go through and play on a lower setting to find all the intel in the game. I'm diving into multiplayer after I'm done with it. Luckily my birthday was this week and I took it off. Really though, I enjoy the game a lot. I can't believe there is a fully realized arcade game within it too! Very Happy See you in-game.

Just a heads up guys, . Sometimes I get online and can only play for like one match, so I don't hit anybody up when I know I can only play one game, usually when the wife and kid go to the store or take baths, etc. So if I don't join your party or send ya an invite that's why, I ll usually play FFA when I can't play that long. And if I'm online after 10 central then I'm gonna be online for awhile. Anyway still looking forward to playing with the fngs
