I Finally Caught Up With The Times

Well........I finally broke down and invested in an iPhone. Its not the 4 but i ended up getting a 3GS and i love it. I was hoping maybe someone could help me out with jailbreaking it. I searched the net and found a couple of programs for OS4.1 but i guess i need some advice.

Can't jailbreak iOS4 yet unless you had it previously jailbroken. My 3GS had a speaker problem so I got it replaced, and now I'm stuck with a stock one too. Keep checking this forum, I'll definitely post when it's released.

May I hope Spirit comes out with an iOS4 JB soon

I hear you Glock ever since I got the Iphone 4 that's all I been searching for supposedly by the end of the month it should be out so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I still have my JB 3G but it' just not the same without all the new features HD cam and screen FTW plus double the battery life is awesome my phone rarely dies now I love it.

Spirit suuuuuucks, it's not a full mod so there's no way to carry it over to the next firmware. If you used Blackra1n, PwnageTool, or any of the Sn0w jbs on 3.1, you could already update and jailbreak 4.0 but it doesn't work for Spirit. Good news though from Geohot's friend on Twitter (the one that is going to be announcing all further updates):

Geohot's had a 4.0 jailbreak for a while and just didn't want to release it due to no one donating for his hard work, the trillions of questions asking when it's going to be released, and the DevTeam treating him like crap, but it looks like it could come very shortly

Just a heads up for anyone with any iPhone on any firmware: a jailbreak has finally been released! If you're not already on 4.0.1 or 4.0, do a full restore to update to the new firmwares. Once on a 4.0.X firmware, use MobileSafari and go to www.jailbreakme.com and "slide to jailbreak". Easy as that, you don't even need a computer.

If you wanna have some fun, hop into an Apple Store and jailbreak a few of their display phones. I did that on the original jailbreakme.com back on 1.1.1 or whatever it was and then had a friend go in there complaining that they were advertising jailbroken phones, it was fun watching the employees panic

Unlocking the phone is the only mod that can brick it. Jailbreaking is a softmod that is completely reversible if anything goes wrong.
