Crafting specialty
I've been thinking about this for a while, so I thought I would post it up and see what everyone's opinion was. Crafting is a big part of the game, but it can also be a major drag in the flow of the "fun and excitement", not to mention the drag on level progression. Particularly if you are trying to level everything up at the same time. For that reason I have stopped most of the crafting lines, and am only focusing on provisioning. Once I get to the end game I will pick another trait to work on until it is complete, then move to the next and so on.
I thought it might be beneficial if we all posted up our specialties, particularly if you are willing to help others out. Say, if I need some high class leather armor and one of you have the clothier maxed out you might be willing to craft it for me if I gave you the supplies? I'm more than happy to make food and drink for everyone, and have been spending a bit on recipes to cover everything. Let me know what you all want, and I will try to keep some stocked in the guild bank, as well as send them directly to you (max Magic and Health, Health and Stamina regen, etc...). I have several blue recipes, but currently can only do the level 30 (or maybe 35) ones.
Anyhow, if you specialize and would like to help out- post up what you have here. Send my any requests and I can try and hook you up (I might need some provisioning supplies if you want a lot of stuff).

Re: Crafting specialty
I'm at 50 Provisioning, 46 Clothing (light and medium armor) and 42 on Woodworking. It is a good idea while you're leveling up to stick to one or two professions max. I didn't even start Provisioning until a few days ago but I had so many ingredients and recipes that it took no time at all to get to 50. I am running pretty low on skill points though now but eventually I'd really like to get Alchemy up as well.
Keep in mind that for the clothing/woodworking/blacksmithing crafts doing research matters if you (or other people) prefer to have specific traits added to their items. I'm currently researching my 7th trait on flame staffs and it's 10 days just for that one single research...so trying to research that much stuff on staffs, shields, light armor and medium armor is going to take FOREVER.
I'd be happy to make anything people want as long as they have the materials to get them made.

Re: Crafting specialty
I'm doing provisioning and alchemy to get the passives maxed for longer times. I've been deconstructing only for the others to level up hirelings. Not sure I'll actually do any crafting on those 4 really. Gathering/deconstructing seems to be where the money is.
Just a tip - pair up with someone else doing the same craft as you and give each other your crafted items to deconstruct. You get almost nothing for deconstructing the stuff you created, but gain a lot from deconstructing each other's created items.
One more tip - level crafting via deconstructing on each of your alts just enough to get the first hireling (level 3) and see more mats roll in through the mail.
I have some extra styles I can share, but hanging onto mats at the moment.

Re: Crafting specialty
I remember hearing about the hirelings to mat farm, but how does that work?
On PS4 we've talked this out and have a good mix of the skills, with everyone doing like 2, which allows us to give mats for the skills we don't use to someone else.

Re: Crafting specialty
hirelings is a passive skill for all the crafts
put a skill point into it and every 24 hours you will get mail from that hireling with mats inside of it

Hmmm, might have to do that for some skills. Although I pretty much steal everything I can get my hands on when it comes to weaps and armor, so I can break those down for mats. Do you get some of the special components used to craft the traits and for improving gear? If so, that might make it worth it.

Yes. I've gotten the "purple" mats from the hireling.

Yeah, I was reading the skills in-game and it seems like it's mostly the base mats with an occasional improvement item tossed in. Could be good if I start doing more guild crafting or crafting for sale.

Re: Crafting specialty
Currently have Alchemy, Clothing, Provisioning and Woodworking at level 50 with all points maxed (except for making drinks in the Provisioning since I don't care about drinks).
Have Blacksmithing at 50 but no points invested as I don't use it at all, just figured I'd level it up by deconstructing.
Enchanting is sitting at 34 but is EASILY the longest leveling profession to get up there. Sticky and Nate have both been sending me some glyphs they don't need to help move the process along so if you aren't planning on leveling Enchanting at all and would like to donate to the cause I'd gladly take any glyphs you find along the way until I hit level 50.
And as always hit me up if you want something crafted. I'd be glad to craft anything for you guys as long as I'm not in a group dungeon or some other issue that keeps me from doing so.

I've been dropping all my glyphs in the guild bank. Of corse they are low level right now, so I'm not sure they help much.

I probably already grabbed them then!
Trust me every little bit helps. I had no idea Enchanting would take this long.
BTW, I did drop some VR5 recipes into the bank for anybody that wants them as they were duplicates. I'm trying to farm for a V10 Max Health & Max Magicka recipe.

No problem. You get an extra boost any time you use a rune that you haven't "learned" yet so I had to make one purple for that extra inspiration. And since the highest I can make is VR3-5 I thought that would be the best way to go about it. At least make one somebody can use!

I need to do some more provisioning on my Orc. I just picked up a purple recipe that requires a little more skill to use.

Re: Crafting specialty
I'm surprised how easy and fast it is to get supplies and then level provisioning. I took my crafting from like lvl 3 or 4 to lvl 11 in like 2 hrs while running assorted quests. I still need to get it leveled a long way to hit 35 so I can craft the Greef that I found the recipe for yesterday.

Re: Crafting specialty
Yeah, Provisioning is stupid easy to level up.
I have managed to get Enchanting up to 37 and realized that you only have to have it leveled to 40 to have everything in the tree unlocked. Kind of weird but I'll take it. Only 3 more levels to go!

Yeah I took provisioning to 40 in a few hours one afternoon, and it only took so long because I had to go find a couple extra skill points.
