importing from Japan Empty importing from Japan

Post by Evol Recovery Wed Feb 25, 2015 4:17 pm

Anybody know a good and safe way to import a game from japan? I have been watching let's plays on a game called Puyo Puyo Tetris AND Because it is published by Sega and not Ubisoft the US will never get it.
From what I understand PS4 is not region locked and it will play the game, I just don't want to go through the wrong site and get ripped off or worse have my credit card info stolen.

As far as I understand you should be able to play it if you can get a copy.  No idea about how to do that however.  Kenny might know.

I checked jlist, but they didn't seem to have it available there.

You could try http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=GAME-0012213&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dtetris%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1 but it's on back order right now so there would be no guarantee of them being able to get it for sure. (I've spent ungodly amounts of money on this website... It's definitely 100% legit)

Also, looks like you can get it from amazon too, I'm sure there are some copies floating around ebay as well.

Yeah you have a few choices when it comes to importing:

http://www.amiami.com/ good site for all your general Japanese needs

http://www.play-asia.com/ Great site that focuses mainly on games

http://otakumode.com/ Same deal AmiAm, more of a general everything in one place site

http://www.amazon.co.jp/ It's Amazon, just with kanji. May have a hard time navigating but almost guaranteed to have what you want

There a few others, but these 4 will cover basically anything you want. I've used all 4 sites multiple times, no problems ever.

I use amazon for almost everything I order from Japan. I use chrome and the translate feature works great. Granted, you may need to copy and paste the official game name (kanji included) if you want to use the search feature. Otherwise you'll need to Browse and navigate manually to games, Sega, etc.

Hmmm...wonder if I could find a baseball game that's imported from Japan and playable on XB1.

I have used play-asia in the past. Have an account for amiami, but I just haven't used it yet.

I'm more a fan of cdjapan. I usually order soundtracks from them, but they do sell a variety of other things including the game you're looking for. Haven't had any issues using them so far.
