Mountain Dew just took it to another lvl

Gross or brilliant? Reports seem to indicate that PepsiCo is testing a soft drink that combines the cheesy flavor of Doritos chips with the sugar-bomb soda Mountain Dew.

It seems that a few lucky (or unlucky?) students at Kent State University recently had the opportunity to "Do the Dewitos." Reddit user joes_nipples (real name Steve Barnes) posted a photo showing a black stand emblazoned with "Mtn Dew Dewitos" holding small taste-testing cups full of a bright orange soda. Really, the only surprise here is that this flavor combination hasn't been tried sooner.
Barnes, a freshman at Kent State, described the tasting as "an all-around strange experience" and "a weird mix of Mountain Dew flavor and Doritos. Like if you shoved a handful of Doritos in your mouth and chugged some Dew at the same time." That description may make you gag, or it may make you envious of the fortunate ones who got to try it. Barnes goes on to write that it "honestly wasn't too disgusting." So at least there's that glimmer of hope to the whole affair.

If the account is true, it would appear that PepsiCo is doing some research into new flavors. The Redditor reported that the taste test involved other flavors (including lemon-ginger and rainbow sherbet).
Barnes has faced some skepticism on Reddit from people who don't believe a Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew could possibly be real, but he stands by his report, telling Crave, "It was definitely 100% legit, they even had an electronic survey at the end." When asked if he's a fan of the flavor, Barnes said, "I might buy it as a novelty, but I definitely wouldn't drink it regularly. It's definitely an interesting taste but I wouldn't say it tasted good."

The concept of Doritos in liquid form may not be the craziest idea ever. A popular stereotype of gamers pictures them sitting on the couch, blasting away at baddies while chugging Mountain Dew and motoring through a big bag of Doritos. This just combines the two into a convenient delivery system for caffeine, sugar and fake cheese. It also helps that PepsiCo owns both the Mountain Dew and Doritos brands.
Crave reached out to PepsiCo and received this response via email, attributed to a Mountain Dew spokesperson: "We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities."

Yes this is why.  That and the fact no one wants to go play outdoors or exercise.   I can see sticky ending up like cart man in the wow episode of south park.
