Just picked it up and I was amazed. Great gameplay, sound, and graphics. Plays somewhat like team fortress. It's online only but has some of the best multiplayer  I have played in a while. Progresssion is slow enough to make you want to play more and makes you appreciate unlocks. Highly reccomended.

I think I might wait to get it when it goes down in price. Like the regular Plants vs Zombies game, it never really felt like a full game, I am afraid this one will be beat in just a few hours..

Online only? Then I am going to have to sit this one out.. Why are games slowly starting to go to this? It is ruining the industry.

Ruining the industry? Hardly. They focused on what made the game the most fun. I wish more companies were like that. Too many games seem to either add on a crappy campaign or crappy multiplayer component just do they can say they have it.... looks at the battlefield field franchise.

What I meant by ruining the industry is making games that have no business to be online only, just that. This game would be an awesome setup for some split-screen play or single player game with a wave mode like the original PvZ and so on. In my situation, I travel ALOT (thank you Army), and with more and more games being online only, what are people like myself and others with not so good internet supposed to do? Just stop our favorite hobby? It just doesn't make sense. Just look back at the initial XB1 release info with the online-only debacle. It was a NIGHTMARE and would make people like me have to strait up just give up on my favorite hobby. It is just not a smart move right now. Sure, online only would have its benefits such as keeping everything up to date faster and so on, but the time right now is not the best. Maybe when more of the masses can be able to have a connection to play an online 24/7 dedicated game or even console it would be a good idea, but not right now.

But I do agree that the BF series has the most disappointing campaign, other than the Bad Company series (loved those), but little games like this that I would like to play anywhere I may be traveling or wasting time in airports, not cool.

Exactly what I was talking about. Why do you HAVE to be connected to EA servers? They did the same thing with the SimCity (newest one) on PC. It ruined the game with a single player game having to be connected to an online server at all times. Single player should mean offline and it you want to access certain things like world leaderboards and all of that normal online stuff, that should be when you connect to the internet. Not just to play single player.

More and more games are going to be MP only and require an internet connection.  It's just the way things are headed.  Destiny, which is one the biggest, if not THE biggest release of the year in the fall will require an "always on" connection.  The industry is definitely not being ruined by this.  Being connected in today's world is just another part of evolving.

No, the online only or "always connected" is another way for the man to bring you down and spy on you while you take your showers and watch your dirty videos. On that note, I will be selling custom fitted tin foil hats from blocking the evil government control waves that will be transmitted from your Kinnects in 2015. Order now before it is too late.

But on an "on-topic" note. I just don't think that it is necessary for games like PvZ. Sure if Destiny turns out to be like BF or CoD in terms of single player is just a flop and it is all about the multiplayer, then I can see it. But I am mainly talking about games like this. It is like (just another example) you buying a PS4 and the latest God of War title when it comes out and with it being a single player game, requiring an online 24/7 connection. It just doesn't seem very effective or worth it to me. But that is just me and my opinion. I just don't see the overall point ya know?

I gotta say that I agree.  Being always connected for multiplayer games is one thing but requiring an online connection for single player games annoys me too.  Hell, in the case of Sim City it actually ruined the game.  Servers crashed and people could not play the game at all.  Even in single player mode.  Connecting to play online is perfectly fine but if the service crashes, I want to be able to play offline.

Games like Destiny are built around drop in/drop out co-op via the entire campaign as well as PvE encounters.  This game was designed from the ground up to use an active connection and disabling that connection would ruin the game design it was intended.  In this case always-on is perfectly fine IMO.  However, games like Sim City which could run perfectly in an offline mode, should be allowed to do so.

The point is that this game is only MP, there is no single player.  I'm not sure why the single player stuff is even a part of the discussion as there is no single player in PvZ.  Just like in Titanfall, you must be connected to play as there is no SP.  I agree that if there is purely single player stuff then playing offline is fine, but there's no SP mode at all.

True.  We seemed to get a bit off topic here.  But I think Stevo was complaining about the fact that there is a split-screen mode to play locally, but that mode still requires an online connection.  Despite the fact that a local split-screen would normally not require an online connection.

Look at Ghosts.  You can play locally without an internet connection within the Multiplayer portion of the game.  My kids do it all the time.

Star Wars Battlefront is another good example where the game was designed for multiplayer but some bigwig decided last second it needed a sp campaign so they added a terrible one.  Im all for always on, but for certain games.  It wouldn't have made since for skyrim, for instance.

I haven't seen anything that attracts me to pvz yet, but haven't been following it either.

I agree about sim city. A game that has always been offline, should not require a person to always be online to play. PvZ however was always advertised as an online game. The game is based 99% around multiplayer so the always online thing isn't a big deal.

Anyways , I highly recommend some of you try it out of games like team foprtress are your thing.
