Protection Plans Empty Protection Plans

Post by S7 mrmiller Sun Jan 12, 2014 6:16 pm

I never buy protection plans for my electronics, but I have been thinking about getting one for my new hybrid PC. It's so small I'm afraid it will get dropped or sat on or something. Also, I'm afraid of it getting too hot as there is no fan in it. But at about 20-25% the cost of the computer for a 1 year plan, it's hard to swallow. Do any of you pick the protection plans? Why/Why not?

on some things i have come to love protections plans
so for the most part i try to get a protection plans for the bigger ticket item

and being that  what your saying is also something i would worry about with it being so small if you could afford  a 1 year and its not to much $$$ then i would go for it ....

now if it was something smaller like a game, a movie   somethings like that i would say no

i don't do protection plans... i've worked in retail and its a sales quota thing. don't get me wrong, its good to have sometime. but most of the time theres nothing they can do for you unless it breaks due to manufacturer issues. and some places, which i have bought the warranty, protect for accidental damages (dropping something on the floor). but most of the time they do not. and there are better and cheaper ways to fix the things they say that they can protect. ::personal opinion::

i'm not talking about a car, lol get it for cars,

Not usually big on protection plans. Few and far between would be a better description of my recent past with them.

In tend to purchase them, especially with electronics. Has a few pixels die in a monitor a couple months after I bought it and Best Buy replaced it with the newer widescreen model.

Never.  You are paying extra for nothing.  A manufacturer's warranty is as good or better.  Id rather have the manufacturer repair or replace it than have some 17 yr old blue shirt f'ing with my purchase.
