EA's Online Pass is Dead!
"It's dead, it's dead, it's deep-sixed, it's at the bottom of the Mariana Trench," Electronic Arts' President of EA Labels Frank Gibeau stated plainly yesterday about the company's Online Pass program to Joystiq.

Sweet! It's an interesting read and good news as far as I'm concerned. Even for XTV owners. Maybe this means they will be open to selling and trading on that system too. And maybe they have an even more evil plan up their sleeves but the article seems to indicate they are looking for a better rep with gamers so who knows.

DRM is my guess. EA is pure evil. No game rentals.

EA definitely has something up their sleeves. They aren't very charitable.

So what you're saying is I need to set-up an account that everyone will add, contract it to gamestop and then they will be able to rent their games to everyone because they'll have been friends for more than 30 days.

I've never known EA to ever care about the actual customer. Something else is in the works on down the line. No way they are just getting rid of online passes because the feel like it's the best thing for me and you.

Re: EA's Online Pass is Dead!
IDK I see them doing the DRM thing for the non sports games and they will probably up the in game advertizements and offer a some kinda COD elite style service for the sports games that cost $$ or maybe an $$ ea origin account.I bet you'll be able to play the sports games online but maybe not be able to be in a league. I mean they made BF3 right and YOU had to pay$$$ for a server right so.....

Yeah, I still made every possible gamertag iteration of XBO, XB1, etc Gamestop/Gamefly just in-case they change that policy before launch.
