S7R Season 3

OK!  Here we go.  It’s officially time to start Season 3 of the S7R Forza 4 Championship Series.  This will be the third and final season of Forza 4 for S7.  Let’s make it one to remember.  As usual, this will be a Championship series featuring 8 different events spread across the next 4 months.  Tourneys are held every 2 weeks as we work our way from F-Class all the way up to R3 for the Grand Finale.  As you compete you will get points that go towards your Season Standings.  At the end of the season, we will crown a Season 3 Champion.  The person with the most points, wins.

Each Tourney will consist of 7 races within a class.  You will get points for every race you compete in and the person with the most points at the end of the night, wins!  Overall placement for the night will also go toward your Season Standings.

On the side we are also doing a little team event that will also run all season long.  At the beginning of the season we are going to break up the members into two team.  Red and Blue.  Once assigned to a team, all you have to do is race as normal.  Your standing at the end of the night will go toward a team total.  The team with the most points at the end of the season win bragging rights and maybe even some real prizes.  So be sure to show up and support your team.  

So now that you know how it works, below are the specific details, schedule and event times:

1st - 15pts
2nd - 13pts
3rd - 11pts
4th - 9pts
5th - 8pts
6th - 7pts
7th - 6pts
8th - 5pts
9th - 4pts
10th - 3pts
11th - 2pts
12th - 1pt

(and 1pt for participation and/or equal to last place points for the night)

These points will also be used on the same scale for the Season Standings and Team Standings.

All Tourneys will be held on Thursdays.  All events start @ 9:30 pm sharp (eastern time).  If you are late, the event will start without you so be there on time, or early.  We also have a set schedule for the season.  Below is the full schedule for every event this season.  Mark your calendars and be there.  Missing an event can give you a big disadvantage in the overall season standings.

Each event will have its own thread with all the specifics for that event posted ahead of time.  So keep an eye out.  We also post up news and a summary of the previous week’s events.  It’s a lot of fun to be a part of.  You don’t have to be the best driver either.  Just show up ready for fun.  If you have any questions, post away.  I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Can't wait for the first event! Already working on my potential F-class cars. Hope we get a big turnout this season, these races are going to be epic.

My F class car:

I have to admit I'm a bit confused/lost as to what exactly is and is not considered a leaderboard car. Any league I've run...and there have been a lot of them in my 10 years on Live...there's never been confusion on what can or can't be run.

I'm not trying to rock the boat but figured I would say something to get it off my chest and I understand wanting to keep it "fresh" by not having everybody run the same car, but I'll admit it's one of the reasons I haven't raced in the league here yet (other than one week) and keep going back and forth on whether to really make this seasons races.

Nothing is banned and any car can be run. "Leaderboard" cars are sometimes looked down upon as sometimes those cars can be OP due to a natural advantage within the game. A "leaderboard" car is the main car you see on the leaderboards for any given class. For f-class, this car is the Chevy Spark. It's the car that is all over the leaderboard for every track. Because it is so present on every track, some see it as OP.

However, it is NOT banned from compitition. Some people may give you sh1t about using one but it is mostly in fun. If you want to run a Chevy Spark, go for it. Any car within the class is legal. Use whatever car you want.

We are just here to have a good time and race clean. Hope that clears things up for you. See you on race night. Trust me, it's a blast.

Here's my take on it:

No car is banned right now (there were some that were gltiched, but they've been patched).
The Spark is 'the' leaderboard car.

What does that mean? Nothing. The reason people look down on someone using the clear #1 car is just that. It's easy to setup to have killer lap times, and if someone is truly good at tuning, their car is going to run 2+ seconds faster per lap than someone equally as talented at driving. Is it impossible to beat? Definitely not. The only time it's even useful is if you get ahead of the pack.

What do I do? I race whatever car I want. I buy a car, tune it, and race it. Sometimes people complain, sometimes not. I run the Exige S class, because I bought and tuned it day 1 and then it became leaderboard. If you really want to run a spark, do it. You'll probably get sh!t from a couple people maybe once or twice - but if you just mute the mic for a few seconds or ignore them you won't have any issues.

PS: Really you'll get a bad time about any car you use if you race good enough. Look at Interseptor. He can run probably 5-10 cars and still be CRAZY fast. So people call whatever car he has OP (because they are). Just something you learn to deal with.

I maybe on tonight racing some of the tracks that are up and if anyone else hopes on and I am on hit me up. I want some one better than me to test out my car and see what they think of it.

I'll hop on if you guys are. Would be nice to get some clean racing in. Trying to race with randoms is just worthless and last weeks practice consisted of Interseptor and I so there wasn't much "racing" going on. Pretty much just a few races of me watching his car get smaller in front, lol.

I'll not be available for tonight. But I will surely have the practice night open right before the big day. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Don't sweat it if you can't make it I know I'm offline earlier than most. I work out late and then have to be up for 5:45 est to be ready for work.

Depending upon how things go, I might miss this event. I got the days mixed up and I'm getting a tooth pulled in the morning. If it's not too rough I'll ty to make it, but I'll probably be close to mute. It will be a race time decision most likely.

Tooth pulled could be local anesthetic. You 'might' make it. If you go under... prolly not. I hope you can make it though.

Cool I need some one who has the dlc to test out my smart fortwo.

I'll try to make it to this one. Didn't do any racing on Monday, was watching for people to play Forza... but then a movie was on tv that I felt like watching, so I ditched the impromptu Monday practice.

I'll be on a bit later tonight.

Fun racing last night. Happy with the Datsun (I think that's the right name, haha) that Apex built for me and he gave me some good pointers for upgrading cars. I was able to beat my hot lap time (easily) by another second and I could probably shave off another second if I kept at it a bit more. We also had Reggie B hop on and play a few races with us last night!

Always nice to be able to bring down lap times! It's a good feeling. The racing was fun and clean. Even the few randoms that came into the game were clean, which was surprising!
