Crysis 2 was short also, but still very fun. If you haven't then I recommend renting it sometime.OneBadHuskerFan wrote:I like the game but I am a bit disappointed about how short the single player is. I'll be finishing it up tonight and realistically I've put in about 6-7 hours max.

Re: Crysis 3
It does seem kind of short, but I have been playing the stealth route and have a good 6-8 hours in so far. I think I am close to the end, but may not be as far along as I think. I'm looking forward to playing Crysis 1 as well (got it free with C3). I know the story, and it's important to the events in 3 more than 2, so it will be kind of like those prequel movies.
I'm looking forward to the Mulitplayer too, and only hope the Bow isn't OP and takes the stealth mode vs. armor mode out of the gameplay.

crysis 1 is pretty good. I bought it last year from xbox games. The story was good and the gameplay was fun. It also didn't seem as short as the 2nd crysis

Re: Crysis 3
I finished this up the other night, and it clocked in at over 9 hours (it does give you the total play time at the end). I did play a lot of stealth and tried to finish most all of the secondary/optional objectives. I'm sure I could have bull rushed it and made the game much quicker, but that is one of the cool things about how it is set up with the open world-type levels and the armor vs. stealth modes. It was a great game, and did not disappoint in the campaign end.
I just started the multiplayer, and really need a team. I played 8 or 9 games last night and I think my team only won one match. Now I wasn't doing the best at first, but got the hang of it again and am liking it so far. Like COD or any other game with custom characters, I don't have a lot unlocked yet, so it should only get better as I progress through the ranks. It does play a lot like Crysis 2, with very minor changes. Seriously, the COD games have more variation from game to game. To me that is not a bad thing, as I loved Crysis 2 multiplayer, but it had lag issues worse than COD (yellow bars = instaloss due to the unseen lag). So far I didn't see the lag stuff show up. but that is with only one night of multi. One kind of cool thing is in multi the armor mode doesn't drain energy unless taking fire. That's great in that you can go around with the armor on all the time, but I think I liked it better before where a big part of success was the energy management. To me this is a little "dumbed down" as you can use up your cloak, then hit the armor until the cloak energy returns and switch back and forth with never any vulnerability.

@ MIller, I have been kind of MIA lately but I am really looking to get into this like we did C2. We need Zals to come back and help us out too. Get the band back together as it were.
Glad to hear that it looks like another solid edition in the Crysis franchise. Can't wait to get in and play.

Definitely a solid, albeit short, single player. Never even tried MP as there aren't many from here that play it and I'm not doing randoms, lol.

The randoms are bad. I should be playing this weekend, and will send you an invite if you are on late at night (when I can party up and play for more than 30 minutes).

Might be picking up the game after all. Doing a play test next week for EA (nice to live next to their headquarters), and I can either take a 75 dollar gift card or any 2 EA games of my choice.

Re: Crysis 3
Finally put in Crysis 3 last night for the first time and played through the Tutorial (to re-familiarize myself with the controls and abilities) and played through the first level of the game and I must say that I am very impressed so far. Great begining and I am really interested in the story already. Something Crysis 2 never quite did for me. It was a great game but only meh as far as an engaging story. Half the time I had no idea what was going on.
I forgot how much fun it is to use the abilities in tandem. Live the visor, nano-vision and stealth to recon the area. Or stealth and the new hack ability. Super run with Armor etc... Almost endless possibilities for creativity. Such a fun game to play. Can't wait to play more.

Re: Crysis 3
Do you know the story of Crysis 1? Where the suit comes from and why the aliens are there (or where they came from)? I didn't know that until after I played 2, and it would have been better if I had known. Of couse knowing that helps with 3 ever so much more, and 3 ties into that storline much better. I'm going to start playing the first Crysis next, and I might just have to do the other 2 in order after that (they are short anyhow).

Re: Crysis 3
Crysis 2 was the first game in the series I played. (don't do the PC thing so no Crysis 1 for me). I understood well enough what was going on.Aliens were attacking and an evil corporation was being evil (is there any other kind of corporation in video games?). And me in my borrowed power suit had to stop it all and save the world. It's just that the story was kind of meh to me. The narration and mission to mission briefing was confusing.
Crysis 3 however was better right off the bat and set up for a cool story. I think it was the delivery more than the story it's self. Since the story is still pretty much the same. Evil corporation being evil and aliens (surprise! They arn't all dead.) are attacking. And me with my borrowed power suit (now with personality disorder - I am now calling myself prophet?) have to save the world.
Basically I think they just got better at delivering the story. Either way, I am definitely enjoying it so far.

Re: Crysis 3
I got the Crysis 1 DL free with Crysis 3 pre-order, and played through it last week and into the weekend. EPIC! Best of the series, but I did miss some of the new additions (tagging, bow and stealth kills) that show up in 2 and 3. I'm not sure what it costs, but if it is cheap enough and fan of the series owes it to themselves to play the first. So good I want to play the other 2 in series now.

Re: Crysis 3
Closing in on finishing up Crysis 3. I have 2 "missions" left. I must say that so far it is only OK. I really liked the beginning but somehow it just hasn't held up as well as I would like. Overall, it's been a good game but it's short story (I am going to clock in at about 7 hours) and it's lack of difficulty really kind of hurt the game. Prophet is truly overpowered in this game. Which I suppose he should be but I haven't even bothered upgrading most of his abilities since he starts off being completely overpowered.
I have just walked through pretty much the whole game without worrying about anything. sometimes I stealth kill and sometimes I just armor up and power through. Whatever I feel like. I like that he is overpowered compared to normal humans but the game should come up with challenges that suit his abilities.
I also feel like parts of this game were cut. I just went through a flying section where I had a cross hair and could move it but not actually fire on anything. It all ended up being a pre-rendered sequence but felt like I should have been firing the whole time. Like an on-rails shooting sequence but sadly I just got to watch and had no control over anything. Bit of a let down.
In the end, I feel a little let down. I am going to finish because I am so close now but I am not very excited about it. I hope the ending raises the overall experience cause so far I am not too impressed.

Re: Crysis 3
It was a little easy, even going 100% (or as close as possible) stealth mode. I like being the bad ass and not having too much of a threat and slaughtering everything that opposes me. I did that in Skyrim too, and it got to be a joke even with a dragon attack. I should crank up the difficulty at times like that, but again I like to uber powerful. I've been playing Dead Space 3, and it's even the same there, as I have created 2 weapons that don't even allow the boss type characters a change to do much more than scratch me, let alone threaten to kill me. Still, it's really fun and I enjoyed it so much I picked up the expansion.

Re: Crysis 3
I like being uber powerful too but take SKYRIM for example. You don't start out uber powerful. You have to earn it, put in the time and eventually you can kill anything. In Crysis 3, you are full power from the get go. That too is understandable as you have the worlds most bad ass nano suit but that doesn't mean the game should be easy. either find bigger, badder enemies or create no-win situation if you screw up (like 100's of bad guys that show up if the alarm goes off). That way the game plays now is just too easy for me. It just ended up not being fun.
Finished last night BTW.

Re: Crysis 3
To each his own. I really liked it and had fun all the way through.
You really should get the original Crysis and play it. It was the best of the 3 and I played it after 2 and 3.

Only one I played was 2 and it was fun but short and not very difficult. I may try the first one if I ever get through the other 20 games I want to play.
