S7 Hands-On Review Empty S7 Hands-On Review

Post by S7 K1ll3rKlown Tue Nov 06, 2012 11:06 am

Created this little area of the world to hear what real life players see, experience, like, dislike, etc. while playing the new version. I could care less what MLG players and IGN (getting paid) say about their reviews. I need real "boots on the ground" reporting from players I know and can trust. If Interseptor or Atrum tell me that a specific section is hard because of the Promethean Knights or Knight Commanders--I know based on my knowledge of their gameplay ability it'll be a hard for me on legendary or Co-Op, etc.

I need reviews I can trust! So come on guys, wipe the sleep out of your eyes. You've had the game for a few hours now...tell me what it's like!!

Enquiring minds want to know!!

Played campaign for about 3 hours last night, about an hours of MP.

Campaign is great! The cutscenes are all long enough to tell a story, very well animated, and transition nicely in to gameplay. I didn't notice any super repetitive missions. The environment changes and you're constantly having to use different weapons, tactics, etc.
We are going through on Legendary and I'd estimate we're 3/8 of the way done. So 8 hours would be my guess for length.

MP: Spectacular. Feels MUCH better than halo reach, or even halo 3 did for me. The weapons all have their uses and feel very good. Maps are varied and fun, haven't seen any hardcore camping yet.

oh boy---foaming at the mouth, chomping at the bit, whatever you want to say but I can't wait! More, more, need more.

Just let us know if you're going to post a spoiler so people can skip that portion of the review.

Really? A game like this with less than 10 hours of campaign? Is that how past games have been? The only one I ever played and beat was the original.

Yeah, I think they've taken me around 6 hours on Legendary in the past.
That being said I'm pretty good at killing things, so I would think a lot of people will take longer on Legendary.

Yeah, that is a rush through time. On average they are about 10 hour campaigns for the average players on the first playthrough. 5-6 hours on subsequent playthroughs (again, for most people who aren't freakishly good at shooters).

No library, d@mn! Very Happy

@Husker - 8-10 hrs is about par for campaign for nubcakes like me. Besides, the game is known more for co-op campaign or MP as opposed to solo campaign.

I've gone through about 3 missions in the campaign mode w/ Atrum. At the Legendary level, the game seemed to be a bit more difficult than I expected. This is a good thing, very challenging. As Atrum mentioned, the cut scenes look and sound great. Can't wait to finish it up.

MP is great, most of my time has been spent here. Thus far, I've played Infinity Slayer, Infinity Slayer Pro, and Big Team Slayer - about 29 games total. I've enjoyed all the modes but big team battles are tough for me. It's difficult for me to measure my ability in big team battles w/ the large numbers of players and vehicles zooming around. I find my self dying more often than I would in the 4 v 4 modes - perhaps time will solve this. The mode is still a lot of fun though, don't get me wrong.

I've heard some controller difficulties from OC and others; however, the default setting seemed to fit me like a glove. No COD like controls for me, lol.
