EA Screws Another Customer
For those of you that have been paying attention to my bitching about EA, I've been trying to migrate my XBL GT to my current email address (or log into my EA/Origin account and change the email address to my current one), because the email address it's attached to is currently invalid. The server and email service that it was on has been shut down by my friend that was running it (I have checked with my friend and all data has been cleared so he can't retrieve any emails/info from my old, invalid email account). I have tried to reset the password, which sends emails to the invalid email account for how to reset my password. Because I don't have the password, I can't log into my EA/Origin account and change the email address, nor can I migrate my gamertag.
For the last 9 months or so, I've been trying to fix this problem and have made at least 4 or 5 good attempts to contact EA about finding some way to fix this problem. FINALLY, I heard back from them on Thursday and started playing the game of giving them tons of info to confirm that I am who I say I am so that they can discuss the issue with me. After work last night (Friday), I checked my email and received this happy little "hide and go f*ck yourself" message from EA:
I appreciate that they're a large company and that they can screw their customers but I'm not sure if any of what they say is valid:
I don't give a crap if my game stats and stuff is accurately reflected on the EA/Origin sites, I just want my gamertag attached to my current email address. I don't see how changing that will cause problems with my games, since all of my save data is kept on my box. I don't play any EA games on my PC, but maybe this is what they're thinking of.
I'm not sure if it's worth my time to email them back and see if they can reset my password and send the info to my current account so that I can reset my password, log into my account, change my current email address, and live happily ever after. I wouldn't have too much of an issue with this (I'd just chalk it up to EA shoving it's e-penis down my throat) but I can't use BattleLog for Battlefield 3 (although I hear that's not too big of a loss) nor can I use the iPhone app for ME3. I know that neither of these is a big issue, but it's the principle that I've spent money to buy their games (so I don't get screwed out of MP/online stuff by not having the f*cking Online Pass) but I can't fully utilize all the additional things for these games because they can't get their sh*t together.
Anyone have any thoughts on my situation?

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Electronic Arts and for taking the time to contact us about your EA account. I have received your request to make changes to your current EA account in order to resolve the issue you are encountering, but after careful investigation of the information you have provided, I was not able to make the desired changes that you requested. This decision was made because your account may lose current game content, game access, or acquired stats registered with your current EA account during the account transfer process. Please keep in mind, this is for the best interest and safety of our customer's accounts and gaming experience.
We appreciate your patience and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that your concern is our priority!
Best Regards,
Leah C.

Pretty much. I guess I'll just have to deal with getting bent over a chair by corporate America. I'm kinda used to it since I work for a large corporation.

Had the same issue, I chose to keep my old address attached instead and keep all my stats etc. They gave me a choice. Have you actually spoken with someone? Just put in your phone number and someone will call you within 15 minutes. No reason to put yourself in an email que when there are live people to talk to.

I had the same problem I wanted to change my email because its one I never check luckily its its an email I can check. It has something to do with how your email is connected to the account but seriously I don't understand how data could be lost in the transfer it seems simple enough. Move all data from one email address to another...
O and I would recommend if you have a problem to just call up or have a live chat like I did and corner them into answering a question like that it took me one time. Either way it seems like an ever reassuring problem.

I might have to do that. Like I said, there's nothing that's pressing that I can't do without but I'm still ticked about the whole thing.
