Re: Metal Apreciation
I guess I was barking up the wrong tree here. Nobody seems to like this sort of metal.

I have seen Protest The Hero live, they were pretty kick-ass. Opeth has always been sick, just haven't listened to them recently. The other bands, I never heard of, but they sound sick.

I like a lot of metal, I just cant get into the bands that do the low grunting yell. I just picture them doing t, and it is so comical. Grunting like pigs and trying o sound "scary". Still, I really like the music, and have some stuff from Atreu, Bullet for My Valentine, Mudvayne, and Avenged Sevenfold which all do the "grunt" thing. Of course Tool doesn't fall into that category, but they are on a level of there own.

Re: Metal Apreciation
Hendrix, Clapton, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns'N'Roses, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, etc. etc.
Anything with some decent guitar in really. AC/DC are probably the most guitar-driven band there is but I don't think they quite matches up to the standards of Hendrix, Clapton, Page or Slash (or Brian May, while we're talking about long haired guitarists) in terms of the riff's and licks.
I love Jimi's music because it's just so natural and passionate, truly the work of a genius.
Clapton's stuff is nothing short of perfection, technically. Everything is so crisp and clean. Amazing.
Slash....well, I just find his stuff consistently enjoyable. I think he may actually be the last 'Guitar Hero'.

Re: Metal Apreciation
Yes, yes it is.
More Megadeth!
But personally, I think Children of Bodom is good too. freakin' Heavy, the way I like it.
Speaking of heavy nobody has mentioned Lamb of God. Those guys know how to make a nice heavy sound.
And of course one of the best songs by Between The Burried and Me:
