Stream? Empty Stream?

Post by PootyPoo22 Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:08 pm

Does anyone have the capability and/or desire to set up a live stream? It would be really cool if we could have an S7 channel on JTV. Just an idea. I don't know if this has come up before or not.

Well I've been talking to some of the people there and I've actually heard quite a few people say they would watch the Forza tournaments and stuff like that

I used to run a stream pretty much daily on JTV buut my current capture card/xbox setup won't work. So until I have the $ to drop on it again I won't be doing any streaming. I just may do it when my tax return hits though.

What setup were you using? I'm not all that great with computers like you are but I've talked with enough streamers that I know a bit about which setups work well

I had a ati tv wonder pro using the s-video. The xbox went into a distribution amplifier which split the signal one going to the xbox the other to PC so there would be no latency or quality loss. If I ever did my audio it was just with a secondary headset from the pc. I tried doing some phone splitters for the xbox mic but there was too much signal degredation.

You can do it with a tv to vga adapter box, for about $30 + whatever cables you need. It won't be HD though.

The Blitzcast boxes are ok but the quality isn't exactly amazing. The Hauppage HD PVRs have pretty much become the standard but they'll run you about $200-250.

This site sells the hardware that most of the big casters use. The Intensity Pro is the most common but I was just looking and the Intensity Shuttle does about the same thing without taking up a slot in your PC. Both run $199 and are HD compatible.

You need USB 3.0 and at least the P55 of X58 chipset (780i+ for nVidia chipsets), without that you will need to go for the PCI option or get a USB 3.0 PCI card, which will be an extra $20-25 and the chipset requirement is still the same. Other than that, looks decent.

Though, with it's price so close to that of the Hauppage PVR it would be hard to justify not choosing the PVR.

Not a fan of any of the external capture cards. The BMI is a sweet card and I've wanted it since it came out.
