Missing Star Wars Scene Shows Luke Making His Green Lightsaber
At the same Star Wars Celebration V event in Florida where George Lucas announced the Blu-ray box-set arrival, he also showed off a missing scene from Return of the Jedi, which shows Luke making his lightsaber in a Tatooine cave.

The short clip was cut from the film, so we missed seeing Darth Vader cajoling Luke to join him on the Dark Side, as he tinkers in a dirty cave on Tatooine, constructing his new green lightsaber, after he lost his first one when dueling with Darth Vader.

other important Star Wars matters, the producer of the first two Star Wars movies, Gary Kurtz, revealed that the original ending for Return of the Jedi was not included in the film you and I grew up watching—according to Kurtz, "we had an outline and George changed everything in it."

He stated that Han Solo was actually supposed to die, but "by that time there were really big toy sales and that was a reason," as "the toy business began to drive the [Lucasfilm] empire."

As for the "original" ending... I read an article that out lined it a bit and it sounded pretty cool. A little darker than the Ewok Jamboree but I guess we'll never know. Oh well. Star Wars is still a masterpiece just the way it is.

Wow! Thanks for posting this. But whats up with the flesh right hand? When he first get it you see it's flesh but in ROTJ he always has a black glove on it. Here we see flesh. Weird. I can see why it was cut - doesn't really move the story forward, and Vader's lines are kinda dull. I also figured he would have done this at Ben's old place or at least stopped there for tools and materials - plus where do you find a green crystal on Tatooine?

OMG you guys let me down - they should all have their fanboy status revoked!

Why didn't anyone tell me! I had no idea it was in Orlando last week. You all know I have little time for news, and have very limited internet access. I expect you all to keep me in the know for games, movies, and other pop culture items of high importance. FAIL!

I didn't see it on gizmodo until Monday , and I didn't research any events in orlando since I wasn't going. Miller>fanboy then me and hay doesn't someone from the clan live in Orlando ..... Hometown ... Fail
