Photoshop elements 8
My fiancé bought me Photoshop elements 8 for my birthday. I should be receiving it in the mail soon. I might need some pointers as I have never used a program like this. If you have any tips or tricks that would be helpful, I would greatfully appreciate it.

Re: Photoshop elements 8
Well, I can't give to much advice other than that the program is easy to start up, and hard to get good at. I'm personally just going with Trial-Error type style of finding out how to do stuff, though if you want there are tutorials for pretty everything to with Photoshop. I bet OC can jump in here and give some real advice becuase he is master of Photoshop.

Yeah flood is right you will get better the more and more you use it and learn about useing the program. A good site that can help with some stuff is http://www.good-tutorials.com/tutorials/photoshop There are a bunch of different type of things on that site like learning to make different textures and text effects that all can be incorporated in making things like siga, web page graphics....

Here is another site
http://psd.tutsplus.com/articles/web/50-great-photoshop-tutorials-for-clever-beginners/
Also once you get a bit more practice you may want to download some brushes from deviantart.com
http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=brushes
Should be good to get you started. What are you looking to do with the program? Sigs.....?
What ever it is just get to know the application and then just start making things and the more and more you do that the better you will get.

Re: Photoshop elements 8
I was interested in the program because we got a kick @ss camera recently and I wanted to be able to edit the picks. Also I would really like to start making sigs and trophies for the clan. All in all it seemed like a good program to have on my computer. Thanks for the websites and links oc I will let you know how things go once I get the program.

Re: Photoshop elements 8
It good KnightOwl. Really nice for your first go. It's a little small for a sig but it's still a good first go. Keep it up. The more you do the better you get.

Yeah I didn't take size into consideration. I wil probably look into seeing if the community college has a class I can take.

Re: Photoshop elements 8
Hit up me or OC online and we can give you some basic pointers but you always want to keep in minds the size and proportions when you start a project. So if you want a sig, start with a blank layer that is the same size as the final product. Then add your images and text to match. I like to use 450x150 (pixels).

Hey Knightowl. Just remember that there are many different ways to handle certain situations. I've graduated in May of last year and im still learning new things. My teacher in college has worked with Photoshop and Illustrator for 5 years and still doesn't know everything. By the way nice sig bro and keep up the good work.
