Real Dungeons and Dragons

Anyone in the clan a nerd like me play table top D&D?

I've been DM for a few groups for 4-5 years now. Moved recently so that stopped but there are 2 game shops within 5 minutes of me that have bi-weekly events for D&D and Pathfinder so that's tempting.

Yeah my husband usually dm's for our group. We just moved to the new dnd 5th edition from 3.5

I used to play weekly but half the group moved out of state so we only get to play like 1-2 times a year.  We tried 4th ed but keep coming back to 3.5 Ed.  

In HS we used to rotate thru like 3-4 games, each in a different setting with a different DM.  It was great, we'd run like 8-10 hrs marathons on Saturdays.

5th edition (or "Next" when I started playing it) is pretty good. I really liked it for introducing people new to tabletop RPGs. Easy to pickup.

Those 8-10 hour sessions are the best/most epic.

Tell me about it.  In one of the games, we had like 10-15 different people with charscters over the years so we ended up usually having like 6-8 players minimum when we played.  

The same group would also occasionally run Star Wars RPG too.  One of the guys liked to play an Ewok and the group intentionally set up our characters so he didn't speak anything but Ewok and the rest of us only spoke galactic common so we couldn't communicate well with him.  

It was fantastic when we were being chased by bounty hunters and somehow the Ewok ended up in a stolen X-Wing by himself.  We tried to explain to him how to operate the fighter so he could get away and it just didn't work out.  Everyone jumped to lightspeed to get away and the d@mn Ewok punches the eject button and jettisons himself from his ride.  

At one point someone mentioned buying or stealing a protocol droid and that was shot down with tons of insults and ridicule, cuz who wants to make things easy and ruin the game for the guy who wanted his Ewok to be a pain in the ass.

My brother was playing a group of 5s tank in one of our sessions. They're halfway through a dungeon entering a crypt with no light source (couldn't use magic at the time). They argue and he decided to sit down and chill against a wall drinking.

For literally 3 hours
...
They are getting mauled by hoardes of undead shouting for help and he just stuck with his drinking. The random/hilarious encounters you have with RPGs...
