HLS #5 - B Class

Presenting the Hot Lap Series #3 - B-Class

These events will take place over a 2 week time period. Basically, from 1 season event to the next. Being that our first event is 2 (ish) weeks off it's time for the first event. The goal of this event is to post the fastest lap time on a pre-selected track, in a pre-selected class. You MUST HAVE PROOF of your time. Also, it has to be within this time period. That means if you ran the track 3 seconds faster than everyone 2 years ago, you do not win. For proof, your best option is either a pic of the screen (quality can be bad, just needs to be legible) or a saved video of the race.

End: 8/15/13 B-class tournament start ends this event

To submit your times, just post up on here in something resembling the following format:

HOW STANDINGS WORK:
We're going to go with lowest total time raced for this event.  At the end of the season we will total up all of your lap times, and the person lowest overall time takes the win.
***If you miss an event, you will take a 1 second penalty - added to the last place time.

 For the HLS? Of course lol.

For the tourney I've got a SWEET MR-S ready to go. It's not my usual style of car but it's fun to drive. If I can just avoid wrecking it I should do pretty good.

This is true.  Until I realized it was a Leaderboard car. I was actually sad.  I built that car and tested it and I was like, d@mn!  This car is bad ass!  Then I checked the Leaderboards... Sad day.  So, after I found out, I scrapped it and built a Lotus Evora.

I hit that 1:39 on the 3rd lap, so it's definitely beatable, even with non-leaderboard cars.

I have not posted up a time yet so you could be right but you might be surprised.  I pulled a time 4 seconds faster on another track, without trying and only like 3 laps.  I tried again with my Evora and could not get close after like 20 laps.  That Elise really is a little too OP in this class IMO.  But if I can't match you in my Evora, I can always bust out my own Elise.

I'll check it out this evening and see what I can do.

I get the feeling that there are going to be a few Elise in the next tournament...  Maybe I'll tune one just in case

Well, my intent is to NOT use mine. I have a personal issue with Leaderboard cars.  Especially if they are really noticeably fast, like the Elise.  So despite the competition in the Tourney, you will not likely see me driving one.  The Evora is pretty much a 100% lock at this point.  Racing one in a Tourney just seems cheap to me.

Now Hotlap Challenge?  I might be pressured to bust one out for some hotlaps.

Yeah, I won't be using it in the tourney either. HLS though, my goal is to see how fast I can go and how high up I can get in the leaderboards. I could probably get fairly similar results with another car (maybe the Lancia 037) but it'd take a LOT more time that I sadly don't have right now.

OK, so I got on last night and did some laps.  After about 20 laps I was able to manage my best time in the mid 1:40's using the Evora (and this was about a second up from my old time)...  I then switched to the Elise and put a 1:38.XXX in 4 laps

 That's how it went with both my TR-S and my BMW I have tuned. I think 1:40 is pretty solid in any car.

Looks like the hotlap is just going to be an Elise-fest.  Dumb.  I was thinking of bringing my Lancia from C-class tournament to B-class and see how that would fare in the hotlap track against your stupid Elises

The Lancia 037? Some of the top guys that I favorite on the leaderboards that use non-leaderboard cars have some REALLY solid times with that. I've seen a decent amount in the top 200.

Yeah, the Lancia 037 was what I used for the previous tournament.  It's a great car.

Agreed, I've ran that for this B class since this game came out - probably one of my favorites to drive. I'm trying to mix it up this season and try different cars that run differently.

Yeah, I am at the point now where the challenge is to switch things up and try something new, maybe even less capable and see if it will work.  But you guys make it hard on me getting better and better every week.  Might force me out of my game plan and have to resort to old proven champion cars.  Porsche OP!

I've got a couple cars put together last night and from past seasons, but I think the Evora will probably be my go-to.  It seems to handle pretty well, has good acceleration, and I got it to top out around 166-168 on Le Mans (although I'll probably run the newly tweaked 'Cuda if Le Mans comes up).

I know it's way late in the season, that this really doesn't hang with the big boys, and that I don't really have a chance of getting anywhere in the season standings for hot laps, but I thought I'd throw one out there:
