New Computer on its way

So thanks to Josh and Ty for helping me choose the right stuff.
Ive been away from computing type stuff for several years so I didn;t really know what direction to go.
Anyways, i didn' have too much of a budget because most of my money goes towards the camaro, and guns. But i feel I did well enough with about 1200 bucks.
And if not for Josh and Ty, i would have spent 1500 buying an HP or dell.

And more importantly, no more playing Diablo 3 on Low setting and 800 x 600!!

i love my AMD phenom II x6 1090t (oc to 3.9ghz but only when showing off epenis normal oc is 3.6ghz) when you do price VS performance


AMD in my mind is better lower price with about the same power as its intel counterpart
plus in my build i love the combo AMD processor with ASUS MB

the only reason mike that u got a intel processor is know you like intel over AMD so i made sure i got you one when i bought your PC(im such a good brother)
now i will give intel this sandy bridge is epic win

Nice pick Tico! I didn't look into the mobo, but the rest of the components look solid. Should have plenty of firepower for your needs. Hope it blows your hair back (if you had hair). And of course the free t-shirt makes it all worth while.

Meh, not really.

Sure, they're a few dollars cheaper but they're pulling 125 watts. My Ivybridge pulls 75. Give it a couple of months and that price difference is gone and then you're left with a CPU that costs more to run and is less powerful. Hell, even just at their normal prices the highest end chip isn't much more than a F1850 and it absolutely dicks all over it.

just like most things it comes down to personal opinion i have just always like AMD over intel

I'd say it's more preference over opinion:

Intel: Faster

AMD: Cheaper

Of course things fluctuate and Intel drops down to being faster and cheaper or AMD releases a new cpu and they have one as fast and cheaper. But the above are generally true.

EDIT: I should note that it's not really out of preference that the two companies have gone this way. Intel has been pulling away in cpu speed/performance for a while now and AMD is in a position where they have to be the less expensive, yet still quality option.

That pretty much goes for nVidia v AMD too.

I know Nate plays some Age of Empires 2 as well, I got him started down at flight school. One of my two favorite games of all time.

computer is pretty cool.

looks great. i'll post some pics later. And its nice to finally be able to run games higer than 640X480 LOL

right now i'm mainly playing borderlands, D3, TFC, but i do play AoE2 and TF2, plus the counterstrike global beta

Interesting side note, if you play AoE2 with him, don't expect any military support from him, but by god his houses will be in the neatest little rows you've ever seen.

I've been playing 3 quite a bit lately. Full expansion version was on sale in the steam blowouts.

Personal opinion, 2 was the best of the series. I never felt the gameplay of 3 was as geared towards a macro/micro playstyle, utilizing hot keys effectively etc. Probably why 3 never got the competitive community that 2 still has.

Since I prefer 2, and that's what I gave Nate, that's the one he ended up playing. It may not be as aesthetically appealing but the game play compensates for that for me.
