Windows Question Empty Windows Question

Post by S7 mrmiller Mon Apr 30, 2012 10:48 am

I have a POS e-machines computer that is not working. It’s only about 2 years old, with Windows 7 on it. My question is, can I build a new PC and use that Windows license, and if so how would I get it installed?

I've got a win 7 oem install disk and u should still have the license code, but I'm not sure if you have to contact Microsoft and say the harddrive died and you have to reinstall it or something like that, to reuse the license key

I think the big thing is that if MS tried to come after you you should be fine as long as the license is only being used on one computer and you didn't sell it for a profit or anything.

All standard Windows Licenses can be installed as many times as you want. After the 2nd time you will have to call MS customer support. They will ask why you're installing it again, you can just say anything like you had a virus, hard drive died, etc and they will reactivate it. Virus is the easiest one to say.

For installing it the .iso files for windows are everywhere. I have literally every edition so if you can't find it I can host it somewhere for you to grab. Just make sure you get the correct version for your license.

^^^This.
Although it puzzles me why he spelled license as "Liscense" everytime Rolling Eyes
Personal suggestion? kill it with fire and install something fun and educational for your kids. But also practical and FREE!

Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or Fedora. All will use less memory and HDD space and will be faster on your system. It's also no longer a "nerd" OS and installs with no effort and looks just like Windows for the most part. The wife can still do bills and you can still surf your favorite midget porn sites....um, I meant gaming websites Embarassed

I've swayed a few friends to install Linux Mint and they all love it. Once you get the hang of the OS it's a breeze installing everything.

PS: No idea what you're talking about with license spelling.
