Madden 2012 Thoughts

So I know I'm like 5 months behind but my first impressions of this year are pretty good. I've played about 7 games and I like the feel of the game, the ease of the updated gameflow play calling, and the presentation (although Collinsworth needs to be booted).

So far I've been most impressed by the updates to the franchise mode. I've completed 3 preseason games and I really like the cut days and being able to play your rookies to see if they're a bust or a bargain. It's nice to be able to tweak your roster in camp without getting nailed with cap penalties.

Also, while I haven't seen many dynamic stat updates for my players I look forward to being able to use this and see players change over the season. I've played baseball games that used this type of system and was really impressed as it makes the game more real, although frustrating at times (cold streaks can be such a b1tch).

I liked the updated franchise mode as well but found some other things very frustrating in 2012 madden like line backers who can jump 20ft and pick off passes or rum faster than my rb and close huge gaps to make tackles

I do agree that SuperLinebackers are garbage and that's something I hope they might be able to patch... Madden probably doesn't get patches since it's an EA game, right?

Yeah it seems like they fix just enough stuff and make just enough mistakes to keep people buying the game. If I remember right, their exclusive NFL licehnse ends this year and I think 2k sports will be able to make a football game if they want. If that's the case, look out Madden because I liked the 2k football game way more the last time they made it. The only thing that Madden had that year was graphics, but the 2k game was hands down better than Madden. We'll see.

So I have to say that I'm not a big fan of the clock runoff in franchise mode. I know that you can set the quarter length to a min or 2 longer than what you want to play in order to balance it out, but why would they include this without an option to turn it off. I think EA deserves a standing ovation for this quality move. The more I play this game the more frustrated and ticked off I get. There's so many little things that make the game a pain in the ass and almost not worth playing. I'm not sure if I'll finish my first season of my franchise but I'm up for XBL games if anyone else still plays. Chippy and I played a couple games last night and had a good time, so at least there's that.

Will do. Chippy and I were saying there's still a few of us that play and you and Wiggles were two of the people I know played. I hear you're pretty lethal to play against, though.

As everyone knows, I'm "not very good" at almost any game that I play with the clan and that doesn't stop me from playing. I'd be willing to play against most anyone. I don't usually play for the win, rather I play to have fun and to bullshit during the game.

I wouldn't say lethal...hard to play against yeah but I can be defeated...Wiggles won against me a few times.

I don't think I've even pulled mine out yet, and only played NCAA 12 for a little while, but I'd be up to play either one as well if you see me on.

Good to hear that there's still people out there to play against. And I hear that Wiggles is probably one of if not the best Madden player we have in the clan.

You should've been here when Freakin' Amazin' was still around. That guy was pretty d@mn good. Not sure how he matched up with Wiggles but he definitely lived up to his name.

I played him in the first round of the madden tourney we had and I only managed to get a TD with a cheeky FG fake. It ended up 47-10 or something like that =(

I wonder if I can pick Madden '11 up on the cheap....is it nay good? Last on I played was like, '08 I think.

2011 is pretty solid and I still have that so I'd play you if you get it. I'm not sure if anyone else has it, though.

I've just bought 2012 on impulse, lol.

One more into the fray. Maybe we can get some kind of a tourney together. If we talk to Droopy we could probably even get a prize for a winner.

Don't suppose there's any sort of spectator mode is there? We could have it on Wiggle stream and watch each others games live, with a few drinks in an XBL party.

Yeah, Wiggles usually streams all of his games so we'd be able to see him pwn whomever he plays and between an XBL party and chatting on his stream we could probably have a great time.

Well, I meant for for a tourney, for the non-Wiggles games. If he could somehow spectate, that'd be sweet. We could have him and Chattem doing the commentary.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if there's a way to spectate but we could probably find some way to do it by having him pick like an o-lineman or d-lineman and then just not touch the controller. I think the game keeps controlling the player so that would probably work.

Maybe I'll try to play around with this and check with Wiggles to see if he has any suggestions on this. Sounds like we have some interest for a tourney even if we can't get the video worked out.
