It survives because of 12 year olds, for whom, a lot of GTA goes over their heads, so they don't mind buying cheap imitation between titles.

I liked the first one, mostly due to the ability to recruit a crew to roll with you in your stolen ride. 2nd was meh. I'll probably play the campaign on the 3rd eventually.

There are so far apart now that they are really different games. Saints Row is WAY over the top and GTA is slightly more realistic and gritty. Personally I like the direct GTA has taken but I think there is room for both.
