Re: Fallout New vegas
You get Boone in Novac, he'll give you a quest to complete before you get him.

Re: Fallout New vegas
Boone is really good at killing enemies, but i like the eye bot the best for his sensors perk, as my perception is low. I did get his laser upgraded, so he does a decent amount of damage as well.
Droopy was telling me yesterday that new vegas has 400 different locations and 163 quests- compared to fallout 3's 200 locations and 100 quests. It does seem like I have a ton more side quests going on this one.
And now I'm level 20... and still have not been to New Vegas!

that just what I read on the fallout wiki web page from the early link, I think they are counting every house cave, whatever that you can go in and not just the ones marked on the map

Re: Fallout New vegas
Well I picked up Cass as my sidekick last night, but the quest I was doing ended in her death. I reloaded a save and decided not to complete that quest for now. I'm going to have to think what I want to do there.
I like her about as much as Boon. She seems to work well when in buildings (close quarters) while Boon is a bigger help in the wasteland. He just stops and shoots, while Cass runs up to the enemy to use her shotty. Still- the Eyebot owns and is the best IMO. I didn't like the dog or the doctor at all. I also had Lilly for a little bit and didn't like her much. I'm not sure who all else there is, but I have had those 5 and don't have the achievement for recruiting all companions. Then again, I still have not made it to New Vegas and there is bound to be one or two there.

Re: Fallout New vegas
Hint- The guy in the NCR outpost at far Southwest corner of the map where the caravans are holed up, has a repair skill of 100. So I think he can repair anything to the max. I noticed because I needed some armor repaired and it was going to be extremely expensive. I think it's because he repairs it all the way up.
I tried to do the bot quest, but there really wasn't anything to do. At random times he just spouts out stuff, and eventually you can complete it if you take him to the followers. I think it's all time based, so just having him along for the ride will probably get it completed sooner or later. Also- he has a black hole of a storage compartment, as I have him haling all my heavy weapons and extra armor in his 3’x3’ frame- lol.

Hint- You can get your side kicks to use a different weapon if you place it in their inventory with the proper ammo. They will use it until they run out of ammunition, then switch back to their default weapon.

Re: Fallout New vegas
Well I had a major bust on Vegas a few days ago, with a glitch that would not load any games as I tried to enter a particular part of New Vegas. I had to go as far back as before I ever entered New Vegas and reload a save (good thing I have 100 saves on this game) and play back through it. It seems to be OK this time, and all I can think of is that something I did in that part of New Vegas (such as kill a character) when the game would try to reload that “stuff” it would freeze. It was getting real annoying. Bad part is I lost about a days worth of playing to go back and figure it out, and about 4 hours of play time from the old save. I’m way past that point now, and everything seems to be working fine, but I recommend the following hint: Save Often and Save Many Times- don’t keep overwriting old saves.
If you haven’t made it to New Vegas- things take a change there. All before it was pretty easy to see who was the “good side” and who was the “bad side” and to progress your character in that manner. The factions outside of Vegas didn’t have much of an impact besides the major players of the NCR and Legion. Now that you start getting all the New Vegas quests with the different Tribes and Mr. House and things get pretty “grey”. When before you kind of had 2 paths to choose, now there are several convoluting paths that cross and switch and make a spider web of possible outcomes. I’ not sure how many endings this game will have, but it looks like you could play this game a ton of times and do different things to effect the final results. Things are seriously picking up, but I’m more in the roll playing stages now where I’m making big decisions and running “errands” and need to get back to the fighting and exploring stages. The story is interestingly unfolding, and the XP is good for the tasks at hand, so I can’t really complain. Good stuff the more and more I dive into it. New Vegas is a much bigger step up from FallOut 3 than I first realized.

Curiosity got the best of me, so I looked it up on the Wiki.
Spoiler on the number of possible endings (no details, just the number)-
- Spoiler:
- It looks like there are 20 different endings, each with a variation depending on if you have a male or female character, and then each with 8 more variations depending on your companion. So that is 20 x 2 x 8 for 320 endings! Really I guess it’s only 20, as I’m sure the other differences are just tacked on to the end or the way the voice over works (he/she, him/her, etc…).

I was way wrong, as there are 20 different categories, and all these can be intermixed from one category to the next other. So there are essentially thousands of possible outcomes.

I was way wrong on this, as I didn't want to read the different endings and on only looked at the headers for the sections. I made some changes in the spoiler part-

Finished it today- Epic game! I'm going to reload from some late saves and see if I still can't do some of the other endings. BTW- the chainsaw owns!

Re: Fallout New vegas
The DLC for this game is great. Not only a new (and creepy) area to explore, but new perks/skills and a rasing of the level cap to 35.

Re: Fallout New vegas
ya the dlc is pretty sweet, wish more of the main game had missions like this kinda hard and if you do it right the rewards are flippin sweet. hit me up if ya want more info on it. I would recommend you have guns, lockpick, med, and science in the 70s before you do it, but do it before your level 30. can't wait for more dlc. Ive only just entered vegas

Re: Fallout New vegas
I found 2 new weapons today. Found a telsa-beaton protoype energy weapon(bad ass) at Crashed Vertibird, southwest of camp searchlight, also near matthews animal husbandry farm and the old nuclear test site(tough gouls there). Found a schematics (first one I seen in this game) called Dog Tag Fist at Guardian Peak, southeast of Ranger Station Bravo.

Re: Fallout New vegas
Found another rare weapon... CZ57 Avenger. Its a copy of a minigun but better. gotta have 10 STR unless you used the perk that takes 2 points off every weapon. Found it at The Devil's Throat, east of Ranger Station Bravo.

ya the telsa-beaton protoype is bad ass, and my energy weapons is only like 40, reminds me of the sparten lazer from gaylo, the Dog Tag Fist is cool looking but kinda weak. If ya want I can start putting locations of weapons on here,

Knock Knock is all you need. It owns in a melee build. The Gobi sniper is really good too, and don't forget to give Boone a .50 cal.
