MLB 2016-2017 Offseason Empty MLB 2016-2017 Offseason

So, initial stirrings of FA and the initial reports coming out of the Winter Meetings have me very curious and excited to see what the Cubs will look like in 2017. With the pickup of Jon Jay, Fowler probably leaving, and Soler possibly part of a deal to get Davis from KC as their new closer and Monty going into the rotation, both pitching and the lineups could be rather different. I've heard theories suggesting Maddon could lead off with Schwarbs or Zo (with the other batting 2nd) and then use use Rizzo and Bryant for 3/4. Definitely some interesting stuff going on.

Red Sox have been very active.
Traded for Chris Sale to add another ace to the rotation
Traded for Thornburg to add another bullpen arm
Sign Mitch Moreland to either play first or dh/ split with Hanley.
I like the big moves

Yeah, as usual I've been watch the off-season world turn.
Hated hearing the Chris Sale trade (for obvious reasons). Thought the Nats had him locked up for sure. I think the Yankees are looking at 2B Brian Dozier coming off a season with 42 homers --but we already have Starlin Castro so I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm not surprise to hear Chapman would be coming back. Infact they'd just won the World Series and he was already tweeting how he'd love to come back to the Yankees??? Rolling Eyes . Odd, but true.

Glad to see Davis come to the Cubs and I wouldn't mind seeing some more arms picked up in the morning off season. I think that the Yankees might be one of the few teams with the money for Chapman.

Glad to see that Fowler got a solid deal, estimated at 5yr./$80-90M, just wish it hadn't been with the Cards. Also, it's interesting to see the Cubs retire a 39 yr. old catcher and then sign a 41 yr. old pitcher.

Just watched my first Spring game cheers  cheers  cheers  cheers  cheers  cheers .

Yankees 9 - Phillies 4.

I sat with great interest and watched every swing of the bat and every pitch. Yankees got some pretty good youngsters in camp this spring. May become something, may remain in MiLB but you never know who can come up and be a great player.

Anyway, just geeking out after the first 2017 Spring game!!!
Wrote this here as it's still considered 2016 off-season.

Cubs play their first game Saturday. They have a double-header, but I'm bit sure what's going to happen since both games are at the same time and one is home and one is away.  Either way, the season begins Saturday.

Yep when that happens I usually catch the B squad if it's aired on MLB.tv. During the spring I like to catch the prospects, while most people like watching the A team or regular season starters. I already know what they can do and have more fun watching the youngsters trying to make the squad.
