Re: 2016 MLB Season
I highly recommend that game for any baseball fan. Best purchase I have ever made. Every single year I have pre-ordered. The guy who makes the game is outstanding. One of the better developers I have come across. Google 'OOTP 17' and it should give you a nice rundown of what the game is. I'd post a link but I still can't lol.
You guys have really put together a great team but an even better management system in place. Very impressed. Especially like the Zobrist signing and the Russell trade. I've been a big Addison Russell fan since he was drafted. Great work ethic. Tons of talent. A little bummed he isn't hitting more this year but he will. Definitely a cornerstone at SS.
Geez I didn't realize just how good the Cubs pitching was until I just looked. I knew Arrieta was good but Lester with a sub 2 ERA and Lackey/Hammel both under 3. And the bullpen....wow. Im incredibly jealous lol.

Yeah, they've been building the team since Epstein got to the office and the. Last year they just decided to open it up and see what could happen. They went from a team with a bunch of older players that relied on the long ball to a younger team that's peppered with veterans and they can manufacture runs with HR just enhancing their totals.

I see a lot of the same things with the Astros. And the Rays when they made their turn around. Just a smarter approach to building a club. We are starting to see the same thing with the Mariners as well.
PS. Thanks for the link.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
Well, congrats to the Boston RedSox for the AL East title.
Now here's what needs to be answered:
Do the Red Sox owe this division title primarily to:
A.) Steroids
B.) Umpire favoritism
C.) The very conveniently timed successes and failures of NY and Baltimore.
D.) A huge conspiracy to ensure Ortiz retires with a World Series title.
E.) All of the above.
---------------------------------------------
And before OC starts getting all serious and philosophical

Re: 2016 MLB Season
lol I say it's owed to well timed baseball playing. With a bit of c. Steroids is a joke because most of the league is probably on something. I also think great play from young players helps. Pitching is falling apart a bit so I'm not sure how much to expect in the playoffs.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
I was just thinking about the Cubs and the World Series - I need to find some money to buy a ticket to one of the home games from my brother (season ticket holder).

Re: 2016 MLB Season
I was rooting for your cubbies last year.
Will they make it through the NLDS (wild wild west) this year? Maybe. It would be great to watch.
That time of year!!!...almost since there are no games scheduled for Oct. 3, 4 or 6; the wild-card game is Oct. 5; the NLDS begins on Oct. 7, with a travel day on Oct. 9.)

Re: 2016 MLB Season
I hope the Cubbies go all the way. I was talking with my brother and face value on tickets is $80 DS, $150 CS, and $255 WS. He doesn't have the money to buy the season tickets (his name just came up in the lottery a couple years ago), so 3 of his friends pooled the money for the tickets. He says they won't let him buy any playoff tickets at face value, I told him he should convince them otherwise by suggesting that they won't be able to buy them next year if they don't.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
It's too bad that he was walked in his last plate appearance.
On a separate note, 9th inning for the Cubs game was epic. Largest deficit overcome by any team ever in the post season and just some really good small ball. Billy Beane would have been proud.

I'm hoping that what ever teams are in the World Series that it isn't a blow out. Make it interesting. But the way the cubs have been playing it very well could be a blow out good luck I hope the finally win one.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
If the Cubs can start getting some production from the position players, they should be able to bring home some hardware with their rotation and pen. They pretty much didn't sweep the DS because for the first three games they were getting more offense out of the pitchers than the rest of the positions.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
If anyone knows how it feels to be in a massive year end and year out WS drought it's OC and the Sox.
But once they started they don't know how to stop now.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
Game 2 was more of the DS style play. They'd get a rare chance and then one of the many 1-20 or 2-25 batters wouldn't get it done. Kershaw is a fantastic pitcher, but he was like 2-6 in the postseason before last night so I thought they might do something. My only solace is that the Cubs were 4-3 vs the Dodgers in the regular season, so they have recent history on their side. I just hope the Cubs can win in less than 7 games.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
I think the Cubbies will be fine. There's a double edge sword to the whole Kershaw thing. Managers think it's the post season and we have to do whatever we can now. So, they trot their ACE out (sometimes out of the bullpen as a reliever) which really shows the lack of bullpen depth and often overuse them. Kershaw can't pitch every night, so I think you guys will be fine.

Re: 2016 MLB Season
Exactly what I was thinking. I'd just feel a little more comfortable if they could get some production. With their rotation and pen I'm not too worried, they just need to get the pitchers some runs so they can work comfortably.
