Mascot/Design Project Help?

First a little background:

As you may or may not know, I'm a high school coach (football/track) back where I went to school... The Palmyra-Macedon (Pal-Mac) Red Raiders, our colors being Red/White... well we are a school without an identity. 

Back when I was in school there (around 98-02), a couple people got angry about the name and logo.  Our logo being an Indian chief head, full head dress or the alternate version which was an arrowhead with a staggered PM inside. 

The school board decided to keep the name and logo, yet over the past 10 years, we have removed the logo from all uniforms and team gear.  However, they chose to keep the 10 foot tall painted Indian heads on the walls of the gym for some reason.  It really sends a mixed message. 

During some classes earlier this year, one of the JV football coaches asked the kids to name the schools around us (school name, team name) and then asked their logo/mascot.  EVERY class (of about 20) could name all of the major schools around us and their logos.

Wayne Eagles, Geneva Panthers, Red Jacket Indians (Redskins logo), Waterloo Indians (Arrowhead logo), Fairport Red Raiders (Pirate style Raider), Midlakes Eagles, Penn Yan Mustangs, etc...

Every team with identifiable names/logos/colors etc... No one knew our own logo... because we don't have one... no central rallying image.

That leads us to where I am now... I'm looking to have someone create a logo for my use (if nothing else) to put on shirts for my throwers that I'm coaching and possibly for some of the football guys that are doing work in the off-season.

I want it to be something original, meaning if it was received well by other people than the ones I would get the shirts for, perhaps it could be pitched it to the school board.  If anyone has interest in helping me out, I would really appreciate it.

Some general guidelines, the logo would need to be like 1/2 colors and need to work on both a red or black background.  It would be nice to have Pal-Mac Red Raiders on it some where.

I had a football specific idea to make something similar to the blackshirts in Nebraska... The Huskers just like us, red and white being our primary colors... Then using the black as outlines or in the case below, a background.



If anyone is interested in helping and can make something I could use, I'm sure I could get you something for your efforts... It may not be much, but I could definitely hook you up with a shirt at the very least if I used your work... And I would definitely say more if it went further.

Sort of a random thought but not sure how much the school board would like skull and cross bones or swords in a school logo.

Something in more of this style may go over better with the school board. Not as aggressive looking for foot ball but could vary it.

Yeah that was leaning more toward something we could use football wise at least

Ok got ya. I can try to come up with maybe something school general and modify it to be better for football/more aggressive if you are still looking for something.

Also just doing some research and do you want a pirate,Viking,zoro type( like Texas tech uses) or what. Raider comes up with various types of raider figures. Also checked out your schools web site and man that could use an over haul.

I really dig the whole like Patriot/Revolutionary raider personally, but i'm open to whatever honestly...

The Colgate one OC found would be best probably. Not really offensive to anyone I don't think. May want to change it a little though. Don't want to get in trouble for using their own personal creation. First thing I saw was the "trade mark" at the bottom.

Yup I saw that as well klown. Ok cool wiggles I am partial to that also as my school just happens to be the colonials. I could definitly alter the Colgate one and make it more aggressive and not gray. I try and come up with some quick stuff and post it here.

just changed the colors of OC's original, i can play with the text more cause that is lame but there is the idea lol

Not to bad coop. I will try and tweak it a bit when I'm of work and try to do a little more but very nice.

move the eye patch, change his nose, anything can be changed to get past all those little issues lol

Get rid of the flag in his hand maybe? tweak it and make him carry a lantern or whatever a Pal Mac would carry
