Upgrading Audio
Well I finally bought my GPU its a gtx 770 by EVGA and I'm now looking to upgrade to an audio card and get a nice headset. My price range is around $200 total and I found a headset I like and an audio card that doesn't over do what the headset can dish out, thoughts?

Re: Upgrading Audio
I don't know much about computer hardware but it seems as if the audio card supports 5.1 but It doesn't look like the headset supports 5.1 unless I missed something.

Re: Upgrading Audio
All headset will play 5 channels with the right audio card/signal processing. I had a signal processor years ago made by Dolby labs. Also, you really can't beat a nice pair of Sennheiser headphones. Some people don't like them because they are "light" and feel flimsy and cheap, but that it part of keeping them lightweight for long wear. I have some older HD545's I still use all the time.

Re: Upgrading Audio
Yeah I chose the 5.1 because it was that or 7.1 which I feel is just overkill especially when I only have a headset and 2 speaker setup.
Re: Upgrading Audio
I'm a big fan of my Senn HD555's. I'm not sure what the HD595's run now but those are some of the most comfortable things I've ever worn.
Question: Why not get a headset with a mic built in? Might as well be able to use it for gaming if you're dropping some $$

Re: Upgrading Audio
I was planning on buying a Zalman mic. The main reason I want a separate system is so I can connect my headset to my speakers and the headset that I have right now the audio and mic cord are so close together i have to physical swap between what I want to listen through.

Re: Upgrading Audio
Unless you get an awesome Audio card, you won't get any benefit. Spent the extra on headphones.
