Some of the Beatles records can be worth a lot. "True" vinyl...in the sense that it was 1st recorded on vinyl is worth the most. The sound is better...."New" vinyl is just digital recorded on vinyl....not the true analog sound.

To each his own but I do not understand the affinity with vinyl records...all this hissing and popping just gets on my nerves. Now I also can't stand the robot voice a lot of these singers use nowadays to cover the fact they can't sing a lick.
What exactly is it that excites you guys about it?

I think its the fact that i'm listening to the same thing my great grandpa listened to back in his younger years kinda makes it cool for me. Or that they can make such sounds just based off of a needle and grooves. The popping and stuff to me is a little vintage, kinda cool.
I don't have one on my phone but i'll post a picture of the one i inherited from my GGrandpa. It's a record player/8 track player. Then i have a portable one that my other GGrandma passed to me. Old school Sears and Roebucks.

SG....True Analog sounds better than digital. Check out the link....I think it will explain it better than I

That's some good info UC. I always thought, new tech = better. Good to know that's not the case with music.

White Stripes new-ish album vinyl is pretty cool. Scratch hologram.

EDIT: Also, UC should have noted that the quality difference is only because of media compression. Uncompressed digital audio files are pretty massive/uncommon - but I don't see why the quality would be worse in that case.

Re: Vinyl's sell for how much?
Atrum is correct....In the recording studio these days, the "Masters" are mostly recorded digitally ....then they are compressed for CD's and MP3 format, etc. Neil Young has created a new digital player called PONO that is supposed to capture a greater percentage of the "Masters"....less compression... up to 192kHz/24 bit resolution
