Looks like I need to preorder this so I can play the beta and the full game.  Might check about digital preorder from GameStop or something.

Why not just do it straight from PSN? It's even available for early download.

After playing the alpha for so long and still not being bored, this game is a must buy for me. I would like a higher level cap, as all signs point to 20 at the moment, but maybe there'll be a ton of gear you can level in it's place.

Level cap of 20?  That can't be right can it?  With all the content that will be in the game I have a hard time believing the level cap will be that low.

I think the content from the alpha suggests the cap of 20 (based on the best armors and such requiring lvl 20), but I wouldn't be surprised if they change that after the alpha.  I bet most people hit lvl 8 in all three classes in like 3 days, despite starting at lvl 3.  

I'll probably look I to the PSN digital too, it would be nice to use the predownload and to be up and running at like midnight.  Oh, and I don't know what MS did to Bungie but they just announced that there will be PS4/PS3 exclusive content that sounds pretty sweet.  No word on whether the content is exclusive or time exclusive:

It's true that the level cap looked to be 20 in the Alpha cause that is the highest gear we saw available from vendors but those in the deepest depths of the internet suspect a higher cap is likely. Things like clips that show lvl 30+ guardians are out there so I guess we'll have to see. I read a whole thread about the speculation over in the alpha forums.

Exactly.  But seriously I think most people are basing it off their of the Alpha.  In the Alpha you could get to max lvl 8 in just a few hours.  I think people are worried that they will max out at lvl 20 too quickly.  But there are two problems with this thought process.  First is that it is entirely possible that leveling up was sped up in the Alpha to get people to lvl 8 quickly given the limited time of the Alpha.  Second is assuming the level cap is lvl 20 as I stated earlier.  Regardless of which it is, or if even it's none of the above, I think Bungie will get it right for the full game so I would not stress about it.

Personally I would not have a problem with lvl 20 as long as it took a while to get there.

I'm ok with 20 if they make high level rare gear EXTREMELY rare.  If I hit level 20 in a matter of a few days or sooner I'm ok with that but if I'm level 20 with top tier level 20 equipment quickly then it takes out the fun out of end game.

I'm fine with whatever level cap they have as long as they make the loot grind difficult.  I'd rather loot grind then level grind anyways.

It's not like betas and alphas are supposed to be full releases of the game...  Alphas and betas are for testing.  It would make sense to me if they quickened the level up process so more users could "test" the scenarios at capped levels in a short time window.

Yes, this very much!  Level 20 seems low to me but Bungie are WAY smarter than I am so regardless of how they do it I think they know what they are doing.  Considering this is a 10 year project they may start levels lower because of that.  Either way they get my cash.

Yeah, with at least 3 character slots that lets you play for 60 levels and if they do choose to boost the level cap it should just be a simple DLC to raise the cap.  No matter what, I see them getting my money.

Looks like the base level 20 theory could be true...with ways to increase levels through Motes of Light.

Another thing I think is pretty awesome.  You must earn your own gear.  No hand me down from other people.  While I loved playing Diablo 3 with you guys that I played with I found myself never really upgrading my own stuff very often due to hand me down gear (which I did appreciate).  I hope they don't change the way they will be doing it from the start.

Trading is limited to characters on the same player account, however. There's no Destiny auction house, and it doesn't look like Bungie will add one to the game any time soon, but trading items between characters on different accounts is "certainly interesting and it's something we'll have to investigate", design lead Lars Bakken told Eurogamer

And further information leading to the belief that the level cap will indeed be low (most likely 20 like has been mentioned).  Love everything I'm seeing from this game.  Can't wait to actually play!

What happens when you hit the level cap in Destiny? Green says getting there is "actually a pretty quick process". "We wanted levelling up and reaching a cap something you don't look at and say, 'well, that will take me weeks so therefore I can't play with my friends who are already at the level cap.'

Once you do hit the cap, Destiny is more about gaining and equipping the gear that will let you go deeper into the game, Green explained, calling it the "gear collection game". This is where the comparison with Blizzard's action role-playing game Diablo comes in.

At the cap more Strikes present themselves, six-player Raids become available and there are higher levels of PvP you can engage in with better weapons and armour. You can also unlock more abilities on your focus, which is a "longer tail process", Green says. Expect to work long and hard to unlock all the third tier options within your focus

Oh, totally.  Wasn't meant to be a negative thing.  I'm actually glad to see it won't be so fast.  Especially if the cap is 20.

It's nice to know how the system will work before the game comes out.  Hopefully the beta will have the actual level progression speed in it and start players at level 1, instead of 3 like the alpha, to get a better idea of how it will work.
