I'm doing my usual Gamefly with this one.  Usually these types of games keep me interested for about 3 or 4 days.  So I'll probably play it some during the week and over the weekend and then send it back next week.

I usually don't like the NCAA football as much but I am willing to at least gamefly this one and give it a try.

And one reason to not buy it:

1.) It's made by the customer raping EA.

I really liked the new "Ultimate Team" mode until I realized that it's basically "pay to win" mode.  I did manage to get lucky and get an Elite Peyton Manning card for 5000 coins in the AH, but other than that all the "Elite" auctions are incredibly high and can really only be obtained by buying multiple "All-American Team" packs.  I can't make enough coins using what I already have to ever be able to afford any more of the top tier players that you need to have to compete in the high levels.

I guess I jumped on that Ultimate Team mode hate a bit early.  I've played through a bunch of the games that you play against the CPU and amassed enough coins to be able to buy some packs w/out actually using MS points on them.  Last night I bought 2 packs with the coins I had and was extremely lucky and pulled a Michael Irvin "Elite" card.  Also got a great deal on the AH and bought an Elite TE card, so now I have Elites at QB, TE and WR and some average gold players at almost every other position through good deals at the AH.

PS - I maybe talking to myself at this point on this thread, but figured I'd at least post about my NCAA 14 experience so far.  I haven't played much of the other modes at this point.

Well some news related to this is that this will be the last ea produced NCAA game for a while as the NCAA has announced they will be parting ways with EA.

I saw that reported yesterday and I'm actually surprised it took that long.  Regarding the news, the contract ends in June of next year so there might be at least one more "NCAA Football" game coming out.  There could also be more after that, but I imagine that will be tough without being able to brand it as "NCAA Football".  All of the schools in the NCAA can still be licensed, it's just the NCAA as an organization won't be part of it.  So basically EA will have to go through each school individually from what I understand instead of just being able to be under the NCAA blanket.

Maybe 2k will pick them up and make an NCAA 2kxx.  I used to really like the presentation of NFL 2k back in the day, even though the graphics and play weren't always as sharp as Madden.

With the lawsuit that is being brought against the NCAA from some former players I think the NCAA will be getting out of the video game business...

And just like that, EA signs new 3 year deal with the CLC (Collegiate Licensing Company).  So it looks like it'll pretty much be the exact same games, just w/out the actual "NCAA" part of it.

So, they basically will get to make the same game as this year for the next three years and probably pay less since they don't have to pay for the NCAA license too and the game will be the same price.  So consumers buy the same sh*t with a kind of knock off name for the same price and EA gets to pocket more money.  Sounds like a win for EA and an FU for the customer.
