Fish Sticks
That button layout was exactly what I was looking for. It sucks not having crouch easily accessible and I haven't tried the human sniper with it yet, but everything else is soooo much better. Thanks yall!

And it has a funny name! I haven't tried it yet (I'm very, very comfortable with bumper jumper) but I may give it a look tonight.

Call of Duty, C.O.D, codfish, your changing the stick layout so it becomes fish sticks
a very clever play on the name I think. I understood it instantly and laughed.

Re: Fish Sticks
I haven't tried any of the other button layouts. Am I the only person that just adapts to each games default mapping? I never change anything but 'inverted look'. I just learn the controls for each game. It takes a few matches but then I am good to go.
Also - Both OC and Coolhand like Fish Sticks. They are Gay Fish.

I disagree...
Dude I've done a lot of codfishing, and they are big as hell!!
They are the most manly fish you'll ever have to catch other than Marlin. Those big bastards are like catching sharks!!

Re: Fish Sticks
Besides being what I am useful it is more about efficiency. It irks me when I have to take a thumb off the stick to push a button so then I can't aim accurately while pushing the button. Some layouts are going to be better suited for certain play styles. Some bad games I am just thinking the developers just had a list of functions and a list of buttons and just willynilly assigned them for no logical reason - that can kill a game if there aren't options to change it. BTW nice fish there Klown!

Re: Fish Sticks
It's a South Park reference...
Jimmy: Do you like fishsticks?
Cartman: Yeah.
Jimmy: Do you like putting fish sticks in your mouth?
Cartman: Yeah.
Jimmy: What are you, a gay fish?
The joke, which plays on the similarity of the phrases "fishsticks" and "fish dicks" when spoken.

Re: Fish Sticks
Yeah, I normally use defaults but my halo reasons:
Halo 2 used Green Thumb. This was because hitting the buttons BXR with the right timing was an instant kill (you would melee, cancel the melee animation with reload, and cancel the reload with a shot - making a melee headshot happen instantly)
I got used to that, and then for close range battles I wanted to be able to jump on the fly for strafing and close range battles. "Walshy strafing" where you jump and crouch/uncrouch rapidly is infinitely easier on bumper jumper. I get a lot of ridiculous close range kills by being able to jump, crouch strafe, and melee at the same time.

well I hope I don't see to many of those moves in halo 4, because they will be just as annoying as quickscopeingAtrumX wrote:Yeah, I normally use defaults but my halo reasons:

That reminds me of the layouts they had on the N64 for the South Park FPS where you could use the "Brown Eye" or "To-Rock" layouts.

Lol the difference back then was they were absurdly hard to execute. There was also a double shot RYYR/RXR (or R - Hold R - X - Y - Y - R - Hold R - X for a quad shot) and they required timing similar to super combos in fighters.
Needless to say Bungie (and now 343) have managed to do better play testing since Halo 2 and no serious button glitches have made it in to a game since then.

Re: Fish Sticks
I switched to the Fish Sticks layout before even starting to play, so that is the default for me- LOL. Also, Inverted = WIN.

Re: Fish Sticks
I found that turning sensitivity to 10 isn't all that fast compared to CoD. I was bumbing it a notch or two at a time and hardly noticing the difference and it really helped. On CoD I keep my sensitivity at 6 I think.

Re: Fish Sticks
10??
That's crazy dude. Not unheard of, a ton of people started using 10 in halo 2 because it helped in melee battles.
Watch some replays and see if you're missing a lot of shots though...
DMR: 5 shots kill (4 break shield + headshot)
BR: 4 shots kill (3 break shield + headshot)
Obviously no one hit's those numbers every single time but it helps to know how many shots it takes to kill with 0 errors.

Re: Fish Sticks
Soooo yeah I was missing quite a bit while at 10. Moved down to 8 for the tourny - still was getting owned. Tried 7 in MP later, ended up going down to 6 which is cake but I may move back up to 7. Evidentally I was not in my right mind when switching up to 10. The crank wore off. jk

Re: Fish Sticks
Lol I was going to say. Anyone I know that had decent luck hitting their shots on 10 played a LOT - like 6+ hours a day every day.
I personally play on 6 when using my Onza. 8 when using a regular ms controller. Their sensitivity is a lot different.

Maybe I need to tweak the sensitivity a bit to help my play. I still sick at Halo bit I'm doing a bit better this go around vs previous versions.

If you ever want to do better/get better hit me up on live sometime. I'll probably be doing some write-ups/instructional videos here soon too.

I'm always up for some help. I didn't get into H3 or Reach until they had pretty much sputtered out with the clan and when I did play with the clan I was pretty bad.

Re: Fish Sticks
I have my sensitivity up at 8 right now. Sounds like that is a big mistake. I think it just feels sluggish compared to COD so I raised it way up. So turning is better but aiming is sh1tty. I need to play with it and see what works for me.
EDIT: I also tried out Fish Sticks layout and I do like it but since I got used to the standard controls I am now messing up the aiming etc... I do like it better I think.

Re: Fish Sticks
For reference:
Ogre1 played on 3/4 sensitivity throughout all of Halo 1/2/3. He had one of the best shots in the game.
The "Average" for pro players is 6 from what I've seen. It let's your aim be steady at very long ranges, but let's you look around fast enough at mid/close range.
A few players are on 8-10. These players are usually Main Slayers - the people in the other teams face getting Overkills/crazy assassinations. Most of them are usually sniping or in mid range 1v1 battles so the sensitivity doesn't hurt. However you'll notice them miss a lot more shots at longer ranges.
