I am a huge fan of Tritons so i would say for about 130 dollars u can get an awesome set. AX720s is what i play with and they havent let me down. Only draw back is the long ass wires but i can deal with that better than replacing batteries.

Turtle Beach, low end model from Best Buy (or the internet). Should cost you less than $50 and they perform on par with any others. Honestly you won't notice any difference in sound quality unless you're a big audiophile (like myself). It does have control for both voice and in-game volume which is very nice. I believe my model is the x11, current version is the x13?

I have been really happy with the Turtle Beach X11's. I am looking to upgrade to some wireless ones though. I think I am going to wait on the Warheads that come out in April.

I'm a huge fan of the TB XP500's that I got for Xmas. Completely wireless and excellent sound quality, as long as you don't stray too far from the base (like a couple rooms over). I think they run for like $250 a pair so they might be above your price range, but they're definitely worth it. Also, lots of the guys seem to like the Astros with the mix amp. Before my current set I used some TB X31's, which are wired, but they're still a good headset.

I have the TB Bravo set that I think runs about $179. It has worked really great so far and is wireless, but I think you can pick up the next one down which should be about the same but isn't wireless and I don't think it's programable, but does have game and chat volumes for about $99.

Steelseries do some great headsets... I had the 5xBs which were great and I still use the headset itself in combination with an Astro Mixamp. It's sooooo freakin\' win.

Interseptor and myself love out Astro A30's

A little pricey, but they truly are the most versatile headset. Especially if you want to use them for more that just gaming with you xbox.

The TB XP500's are set for interaction with any Bluetooth product and they should would with a PS3 too. Not sure about a Mac/PC, but if it's set for Bluetooth you should be good.

The base unit actually works off digital optical (the red glowy tubey cable - sorry for the technical jargon) - the headphones connect to the base unit via bluetooth, and to the xbox adapter you plug into the controller via bluetooth as well. And then you can connect your phone or other media player via bluetooth also.
